Summary of Findings and Recommendations

AREA III

CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

I. STRENGTHS

1. There is an updated syllabus for each subject duly approved by the dean or official
concerned.

2. Instruction is enriched by using varied teaching methods and techniques.


3. Students are given time for consultation with their teachers on academic matters
and even on professional problems.

II. AREAS NEEDING IMPROVEMENT

1. The college lacks multi media and ICT equipment for instructional purposes
purposely to enhance teaching learning process.

2. Most instructional materials lack the required endorsement and approval of the
Instructional Materials Committee, and the IPR.

3. Linkages is limited to industries and local government units.


4. A functional university wide Instructional Materials Committee is not available.
5. Instructional materials developed and utilized by Computer Science faculty is
limited.
6. Computer Science graduates need to be at par with other Computer Science
graduates from other universities and colleges.
7. Indication on performance of graduates is unavailable.

III. RECOMMENDATIONS

1. There is a need for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology to be


persistent in requesting for additional multi media and ICT equipment for
instructional purposes in order to enhance the teaching learning process, if
budget warrants.

2. Faculty members are encouraged to produce their own instructional materials and
if instructional materials are prepared, certification and approval of the instructional
materials committee be sought prior to its use and implementation, and if possible
these documents and materials be submitted to IPR office for patenting.
3. An Instructional Materials Committee should be activated to screen/ evaluate and
approve instructional materials (IMs) for use.
4. Establish a university wide Instructional Materials Committee.

1. Establish linkages with other academic institutions especially in the nearby


provinces for possible exchange of instructional materials and methodologies.
2. Motivate faculty members to develop varied multi-sensory instructional
materials and submit them to the IMC (Instructional Materials Committee) for
appraisal and implementation.
3. Encourage Computer Science graduating students to take eligibility
examinations and certification from the Civil Serve Commission, TESDA,
Microsoft, CISCO, etc.
4. Conduct a study/analysis on the effectiveness of the table of specifications.
5. Conduct a tracer study on the employability and feedback from employees
regarding performance of graduates.
5. More students, teacher and other stakeholders participation is suggested in the
revisions, improvement of the curriculum.
