Just For Today
1. Just for today I will be happy. This assumes that what Abraham Lincoln said is true,
that "most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." Happiness is from
within; it is not a matter of externals.
2. Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to
my own desires. I will take my family, my business, and my luck as they come and fit
myself to them.
3. Just for today I will take care of my body. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not
abuse it nor neglect it, so that it will be a perfect machine for my bidding.
4. Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will not

at once. I can do things for twelve hours that would appall me if I had to keep them up for
a lifetime.
8. Just for today I will have a programme. I will write down what I expect to do every hour.
I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. It will eliminate two pests, hurry and

If you no longer know what to do, this process of self-evaluation

is a very good path to finding yourself. It will help you to understand that

If you're not sure what to do or if you have any anxiety, don't try to seek

The truth is that life flows from Being to Doing into Having. If you
are being happy and satisfied - from the inside out - you will start doing
what happy and satisfied people do, and you will have what happy and
satisfied people have. One of the Buddha's greatest contributions was
his teaching that desire creates suffering. This means that when you
want something more and you don't accept what you already have, you
will suffer. Now, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't create more things
in your life. On the contrary, you and I are purposeful, creative beings.

What others think of you has no meaning whatsoever. It is all

part of a stage performance. The frightened actors and actresses have
mutual contracts for keeping the drama going. If you will leave the stage
and just be yourself, you will lose your fear of not getting approval. Only
an actor worries over a bad performance.

The solution is to determine exactly what you want and go for it.
Can you articulate what you want your life to look like? What is
important to you? If you can answer this honestly, you are off to a good
start. And as you do this please treat yourself with kindness and
respect. Dont put yourself down if you havent been living the life that
you really want. What you have done in the past has nothing to do with
what you would like to do in the present. Respect the life that youve
been living even though you might want to change it. Its all part of
loving yourself.

When you are conscious that you are not present, something interesting happens you
ARE present!

admir munii i acelea care contempl marea. Ochii siguri, drji, fericii i plini de spirit
ntreprinztor, de energie i de poft de via zboar din pisc n pisc, dar pentru a visa n
faa acestei nemrginite ntinderi de ape care i rostogolete valurile cu un fatalism mistic,
nruitor, trebuie s ai o privire nvluit, dezndjduit, atottiutoare, care a cobort
cndva, undeva, n adncuri de triste vrtejuri... Sntate i boal: asta-i deosebirea, ne
crm rzbttori prin minunata diversitate a formelor accidentate, ameitor de nalte,
prpstioase, pentru a ne pune la ncercare fora vital din care nc n-am irosit nimic. Dar
cnd suntem obosii de vrtejurile din propriul nostru suflet, vasta simplitate a lucrurilor
