Newtons Third Law Of Motion

By : Mint N , Pun , Jean , Nam

1104
Whenever one object exerts a force on a second
object , the second exerts an equal force in the
opposite direction.

Issac Newton
What is Newtons Third Law?

-Action = Re-action
-One force is called the action force , the
another force is called the re-action
force.
-Describe something else that happens when
one object exerts a force on another
object.
-State for every action there is an equal
but opposite re-action.
-Always acts on different object.
Examples

Space shuttles rocket boosters propel the orbiter into

space by exerting an equal and opposite force to
exhaust gasses.
Real life examples

-When we punch on the wall, the wall exerts a

force against us.
-The car pushes the road downward while the road
exerts an upward force.
Momentum
Momentum

-A property of moving thing.

-Momentum = Mass x Velocity
Example : A moving boulder has more
momentum than a stone rolling at the
same speed.
A fast boulder has more momentum than
a slow boulder.
A boulder at rest has no momentum.
