Reflection Letter For Mapping A Rhetorical Ecology

During my process of writhing my mapping a rhetorical ecology essay I was very

confused on what to write about through the whole process of this paper. I understood that the

professor wanted us to write about interactions between a small number of people in a small time

and place. It was just difficult for me to come up with a topic to write about. At first I wanted to

choose a music video, because in class we watched a music video from Taylor Swift and had to

get into groups to map the audience, environment, events, texts, and structures that we found in

the Taylor Swift video. So I decided to choose a video also, I knew the video I would choose had

to have a lot of meaning behind it, so I chose a Michael Jackson video called They Really Don't

Care About Us, because it involved police violence against the people of brazil. As I started

gathering info from the video and started really typing my essay up, I found that this video didn't

give me enough to write whole to 6 to 7 pages about. Although it did have a good message

behind it I wrote my professor Morrow explaining to her why I wanted to change my topic, and

what I was going to change my essay into another Michael Jackson song called the Earth Song.

After summarizing the video, and having my one on one session with a JapPal that helped me

take notes on how to organize my paper, punctuation, grammar, and also helped me come up the

title of my essay just by reading want I provided her to look at during my session. As I got my

comments back from Professor Morrow I saw that I needed to fill in more evidence about my
Michael Jackson video which I went back in did, and also I saw that I needed to put more

information to go into my mapping diagram. After I went back and fixed those minor problems I

hope that changed the grade of my essay to a high C to a B or A.
