Formative Assessment

Actively participate in class and group discussion; put in your input and feelings. We
want to hear them! Your voice is important! Explain why you chose the book you chose.
Write for 10 minutes about what your reading and writing lives looked like before
entering this class. Do not worry about grammar: this is a draft that wont be graded for it
grammatical correctness. This is for us all to use to start our journey to becoming readers
and writers. If you need help writing about your reading and writing lives, address these
questions: How often do you read? How often do you write? What do you like to write
and read (poetry, short stories, horror stories, nonfiction, etc.)? What is your favorite
book? Do you think you are a good reader and writer? What are other things you are
interested that you think you may be able to find a book to read about that subject or that
you think you may be able to write about that subject (football, golf, fashion, animals,
etc.)?
