Dear Dr. Bruce,

I encompass my cover letter, progress report, group charter, and peer review to create a
professional portfolio that reflects my best writing. I present my mastery of all six student
learning outcomes (SLO) throughout this document.

My cover letter and peer review satisfy SLO 1, rhetorical focus. This cover letter is
written formally towards an expert audience with a purpose to persuade. I use appropriate
language and an organized format while arguing my success as a technical writer. I provide
specific examples from important assignments to convince that I am able to effectively apply
each SLO to my endeavors. The peer review is informally written, in a classroom environment,
to provide insight for a peer or colleague audience.

Ethical Citation, SLO 2, is evident in the group charter. This charter gathers diverse
information from three different sources, and accurately implements consistent APA format.

My cover letter and progress report deliver SLO 3, persuasion. This cover letter
supports my claims with detailed examples from my written material. I filtered through
information and presented relevant material to guide my audience. My progress report
expresses each assignments punctual completeness before every deadline, attesting to the
teams successes and promising productivities. This report additionally proves the teams
strength to resolve setbacks when miscommunication was tenaciously handled.

My progress report and group charter provide SLO 4, organization. The progress
reports clear and direct information elicits a focused and comprehensive flow of ideas. The
bullet points convey concise data and allow logical transitions from topic to topic. The group
charters content is arranged coherently to communicate roles, rules, and objectives in a clear
direction. The paragraphs have appropriate topic sentences to produce a cohesive outline. The
white space, bold and large headings, and bullet points greatly induce the reader to find
pertinent material in both documents.

My progress report and group charter demonstrate SLO 5, language and design. The
progress report articulates events through enough elaboration without excessive information.
The design significantly improved after adjusting and adhering to standard memo format. The
progress report and charter possess sophisticated structures, with varied font size and italics of
headings and subheadings. Both documents utilize vigorous verbs, proper spelling and
grammar, which desirably demonstrate diction for workplace tasks and objectives.

My group charter and peer review addresses SLO 6, collaboration. The group charter
was written with other team members, improving the overall integrity of the works
cohesiveness. I assess and critique another peers writing with specific tips and examples to
encourage their growth and potential as a developed professional. I use concise, direct, and
influential language to employ my peer to adjust their work.

Through my persistent efforts on each piece of writing and openness to outside
influences, I have confidently reached my personal goal of achieving a more enriching writing
style of clarity, brevity, and depth. While I feel accomplished in this endeavor, I feel certain and
hopeful in my ability and motivation to determine a writing style that is always adapting and
evolving.

Sincerely,

Hayley Nichols
