Classroom Learning Profile based on observations and data

Use readings and EDUC 202 self-reflection assignments from the past to describe your placement class:
Nieto & Bode; Understanding Culture Brief; Hoeksema; Pearson 202 custom textbook; Barringer, Pohlman, & Robinson
- The students mostly talk about their affection about the foods that they eat home. Flan, which
is their favorite dessert of all times but they say that it is rare to eat in their homes.
- They have class money to but school related materials in the classroom like snacks from
Culture recess, pencils, notebook, and etc. The money is paid with two ways. First, they get paid by
doing a job in the classroom like bathroom monitors, homework checkers, and etc. Second,
they have the clip up chart to determine their amount of money they get for each day.
- The teachers ethnicity is Korean American who has been in the United States of America for
Race & Ethnicity over 20+ years.
- The students are 97% Hispanic and 3% African American.
Social Systems- - According to the records and observations, the students come from a low income family and
Peers & Family receive their daily food from the school cafeteria.

- Every morning, the students have no issue of saying Hi! Hello! to the teacher and their
peers.
- When a student does not have a school supply ready in front of them and it is not the timing
Moral, Spiritual, and of buying from the teacher with their class money, other students who are around that student
Faith Development starts to contribute to that student.
- When the teacher asks with how many points they have got with any form of an assessment,
the students will tell honestly on how many points they got immediately.

- Over all, the students attention span is very short in time. The teacher has to get back
together the whole group with some kind of a classroom management skills like clapping and
Attention & Memory
letting the students follow.

- The students are speaking in English to communicate with each other. Sometimes, the
students speak in Spanish to express their ideas when they do not know what to say in
Language English. There is one student who cannot speak in English and it is very hard for her to get
the knowledge that the teacher teaches because of the limitations that she has with the
language.
Motor & - 70% has a readable and organized handwriting skills. On the other hand, 30% of the students
Spatial/Sequential has mostly scribbles on their paper.
Ordering
- Since some of the basic skills like memorizing a multiplication chart is in a low level, they
cannot think on to the next level where the teacher wants the students to think beyond their
Higher Order Thinking thinking skills. It means to say that they do not know how to apply those skills to do an
advanced skill.
- The students have a problem with their behavioral problems because one of the African
American students has a behavioral attitude where they cannot take teachers assistance.
Ability & Disability When the teacher assists with something, they have an attitude where they whine and
complain about what is happening.
