Step 1 Lead the RF jumpers into the cabinet through the cable holes, and the route the jumpers by
referring to 10.2 Cable Routing Principles.
NOTE
Reserve an extra length of 300 mm when preparing the RF jumper according to the actual cable route. Thus, the
jumper can be led out from the upper cabinet if two cabinets are stacked during capacity expansion. For details
about how to add a DIN connector to the RF jumper, see Assembling the 7/16 Straight Male Coaxial DIN
Connector and the 1/2'' Feeder.
Step 2 Link the DIN connectors of the RF jumpers to the ports labeled ANT on the panels of the RFUs.
Figure 10-16 shows the RF jumper connections in a single cabinet, and Figure 10-17 shows
the RF jumper connections in stacked cabinets.
Step 3 Use a torque wrench to tighten the DIN connector until the fastening torque reaches 25 N·m to
35 N·m.
Step 4 Attach color rings by referring to Color Ring for the Antenna System and Attaching the Color
Ring.
NOTE
Check and ensure the secure connections of the Inter-RFU RF signal cables, which are installed inside the
cabinets based on different configurations of the cabinets before delivery.

11 Installation Checklist
After the cabinets and devices are all installed, you need to check the installation items,
installation environment, and cable-related items.
2 All the bolts, especially those for electrical connections, are tightened. Both the
spring washer and the flat washer are installed in a correct sequence.
6 All labels, tags, and nameplates are correct, legible, and complete.
2 No tapes, tails of cable ties, paper, or packing bags are left inside or outside the
cabinet.
3 All the items around the cabinet are neat, clean, and intact.
2 The redundant part of the power cable or PGND cable is stripped off rather than
coiled.
3 The lugs at both ends of the power cable or PGND cable are securely soldered or
crimped.
4 The bare wires and the terminal handles at the wiring terminals are coated with
heat-shrinkable tubes.
5 The flat washer and the spring washer are well mounted on all OT terminals.
6 All cables are connected securely and reliably. Pay special attention to the cable
connections at the bottom of the cabinet.
7 The cables are neatly and tightly bound. The cable ties are evenly spaced and face
the same direction.
8 The power cable, PGND cable, feeder, optical cable and the E1/T1/FE signal cable
are bound separately with a spacing of larger than 30 mm.
9 The cable layout facilitates maintenance and future capacity expansion. And the
bending radius of the cables meet the requirements.
11 The extra length of each indoor cable tie is cut, and the cut surface is smooth
without sharp edges. An extra length of 3 mm to 5 mm is resereved for each
outdoor cable tie.
13 The connectors of the RF cables are fixed in position to avoid false connection
that may cause an abnormal voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR).
Before the cabinets are powered on and work, you need to check the power-on status of the
cabinets.
Figure 12-1 shows the power-on check procedure.
NOTE
For details about how to check the DIP switches on the boards, see the BTS3900 Hardware Description.
The Electronic Serial Number (ESN) is unique to a Network Element (NE) for identification.
The ESN is used during the commissioning of the base station.
Procedure
Step 1 Record the ESN shown on the label attached to the mounting ear of the BBU. Figure 13-1 shows
the position of the ESN.
Step 2 Report the ESN to the engineer for the commissioning of the base station.
Step 3 Close the cabinet door, and lock it.
