Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

I understand that I must pass the Praxis Core Exam before I can take any education

courses at UNLV, NSC, or UNR to continue my Bachelors degree in Education. In order to

pass the Praxis Core Exam, I must receive the minimum score of 150 in Math, 156 in Reading,

and 162 in Writing.

Exam Preparation

Unfortunately, I have not been able to dedicate time to study and properly prepare for the

Praxis Core Exam. I did read about the exam and reflected on how unprepared I am to pass the

exam with the websites that was provided on the CSN website. Formally, I have not prepared

and neither have been able to set time away to study and pass this exam.

Exam Results

In Math and Writing, I scored in the 45% range, which means that I need significant

improvement to be able to pass the Praxis Core Exam. Furthermore, in Reading, I scored in the

39% range, which also means that I need significant improvement in order to pass the exam. I

believe that I have a mountain to climb and will have to use this next semester to just study so

that I may have a chance in passing the Praxis Core Exam. Personally, I know that the odds are

against me because I have never done well on multiple choice tests and doubt at the age of 40 its

going to change.
Future Exam Preparation

I believe that in order for me to pass the Praxis Core Exam it will take the entire Spring

2018 semester to prepare. Furthermore, I will have to register for Praxis Core Review courses at

CSN, use study books, ED Ready Math, and online programs such as Kahn Academy to assist

me with my studies. I will probably have to sit down with my wife and have her be my tutor,

because she is really book smart, and have her assist me when I need help. In conclusion, I

will have to dedicate myself to passing the Praxis Core Exam and sacrifice personal time to

achieve a passing grade for this exam.
