NEW ORIGINAL LIVE IMPROVISATION
b
AT THE
ouse Social Clu
Orford H
Jazz gigs are exciting to watch!
Feel the connection between the musicians,
and the audience, the drama of the unfolding
improvisations and the incredible musicianship
of the players. Just some of the reasons to
check out our gigs.
The word jazz means many things to many people. In fact, there are
so many different styles that it makes more sense to think of jazz not
as a single style, but rather as
10an approach to making music. Its about
exploration, collaboration and a willingness to take risks. We hope youll

Tori Freestone Trio
Tori Freestone | tenor sax
Dave Manington | bass
Tim Giles | drums

Freestone was fluent with subtle phrases, and delicate asides, and it was a
combination of her drive and that rare ability of seeming to speak through
the instrument and control every syllable, that engaged the attention
Captivatingly understated and original statements
Finely tuned, the trios playing was economical, concentrated,
but in a lightly pressed way Londonjazz

Playing a mix of original compositions and standard

repertoire, this new band is exploring the open
quality that the trio format provides whilst taking
inspiration from some of the non chord sax led trios
of the moment

Nothing short of a triumph Stephen Graham, Marlbank

Rachel Musson | tenor sax This trio has a thrilling group identity with a distinctly
Liam Noble | piano original take on freely improvised music. Musson is
Mark Sanders | drums capable of switching from free-flowing lyricism to intense
multiphonics in the space of a heartbeat; Sanders plays
with an impeccable sense of internal swing; Noble brings
a highly original, acerbic intellect to the piano, and has
recently begun to explore the infinite possibilities of
electronics. As a unit, they are making music that harks
back to the earthy roots of free-jazz while simultaneously
gazing outwards into galactic space.

George Crowley | tenor sax graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and
John Turville | piano the Paris Conservatoire, as a Sir Elton John Scholar
Ryan Trebilcock | bass and Scott-Fulbritzer Jazz Prize winner. Recently Hugh
Tim Giles | drums has been recording and performing with the quintet
he brings to the club tonight. They often incorporate
iconic solos of the 50s and 60s greats into their lively,
jubilant performances, with no other agenda than
to simply indulge in the immense challenge and joy
of playing together within the framework of jazzs
lingua-franca - straight-ahead jazz.
