properties:
the perpendicular from the centre of a circle to a chord bisects the chord
the measure of the central angle is equal to twice the measure of the inscribed
angle subtended by the same arc
the inscribed angles subtended by the same arc are congruent
a tangent to a circle is perpendicular to the radius at the point of tangency.

PROCEDURE
1. Group Work (35 min.)
Split up the class into groups (2-3 students) and have them define and come up with
examples to illustrate each property (have them work with the people sitting next to them)
o Encourage them to look at chapter 10 in the textbook (MathLinks 9)
I want them to have pictures, videos, etc. to help explain
Send them a link so they can put it all into google slides presentations
REFLECTION
My grade nine class was right with me today. It took some reminding, but I kept them on task. I
checked on them and made sure they were following along with me while we went through
examples. After doing this, we got started with the group work. We took about 20 minutes getting it
figured out. Some unforeseen issues came up, but we figured it out as we went. They will have the
whole period tomorrow to work on it.

They worked on it the next day, and I was happy with their work. I was not feeling well during class, so
I sat in my desk. It was nice to have them doing Google Slides because I could have all their
presentations open and monitor their work from my desk. For the most part, they stayed on task, and
I am happy with the quality of their work.
