Practical Hermetic Theurgy

Consecration of Planetary Talismans:

Materials needed:
a. rock or sea salt in a dish, ground for sprinkling
b. water in a cup or chalice
c. incense stick in holder or loose incense with charcoal in a
burner. Choose an incense corresponding to the planet.
d. your caduceus (wand)
e. the talisman, drawn and ready to charge, loaded with
optional fluid condenser

Opening Phase
1. perform the Opening gesture and take refuge
2.stand at west of altar, facing east, and say
Hekas Hekas Este Bebeloi!1
3.perform the LBRP
4.standing west of the altar, facing east, begin the Circulation of
Light

1Far, far away be the profane! This is a formulaic warning that signifies that this ritual is
especially set aside and cannot be observed or attended by unhelpful spirits.
Purificatory Phase 2
5.take the salt, put a pinch in the water, and circle the room,
sprinkling to each quarter, and end with I purify with water.
6.take the incense, wave at each quarter, and end with I
consecrate with fire.
The Approach3
7.perform the I.N.R.I.-L.V.X.-I.A.O. formula, described in a
separate document.
8.perform an invocation of the planet associated with the
talisman by hexagram. Here is a diagram of both invoking and
banishing hexagrams for the seven planets (Saturn, Jupiter,
Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury and Moon, respectively):

2 Because youre actually establishing a working space to be filled with light, and not
simply purifying your aura, this phase acts to sanctify the space, making it an extension
of your aura.
3 We begin the process of invocation of a planetary entity, using a phased approach. This
starts with the most general invocation (the I.N.R.I. formula and hexagram ritual) and
proceeds to the specific at the culmination of consecration.
When tracing the hexagram, place the planetary sigil in its
center. Here is a list of those sigils:

7 - Saturn

6 - Jupiter

5 - Mars

1 - Sun

4 - Venus

3 - Mercury

2 - Moon

9.perform another I.N.R.I.

10.perform circumambulation, going around the number of times
corresponding to planet/sephirah, filling the space with the
color of the planet/sephirah. Use the sign of the Enterer when
passing the East, going in the direction of travel, without the
sign of Silence.
Invocation
11.proceed to the side of the altar opposite the planet in the
heavens.
12.invoke the planet with hexagram and divine Name, drawing
the hexagram in the direction of the planet, and aspiring with
great concentration to the divinity of that planet. The goal is to
fill yourself with awareness of the presence of that god or
goddess.
Charging the Talisman
13.trace the sigil itself over the talisman, intoning the encrypted
phrase used to create it.
14.project upon the talisman with the divine Name, the number
of times corresponding to the planet/sephirah.
15.wrap the talisman in silk
The Closing
16.as at opening, purify with water and consecrate with fire
17.perform reverse circumambulation of Light, using the sign of
Silence when passing the East.
18.perform a banishing ritual of the hexagram for the planet,
following the same steps as above, but substituting the
banishing hexagram form.
19.perform LBRP
20.Distribute the Merit
21.Closing gesture
22.place the talisman somewhere where it wont be disturbed,
and without touching it, open the silk cloth, but leave the
talisman on the cloth. Leave it until its purpose is served, after
which deconsecrate it by performing an LBRP with the
talisman in the center, and touch it with your finger, saying
This talisman of Art is deconsecrated. May any spirits
bound by this operation be released and thanked
