Intake / Exhaust System
201ARM The raised air intake is on the lh side of the cab rear wall and is
integrated in the rear wall contour. Thus no loss of body length.
The air filter is in the centre of the vehicle under the cab above
the top edge of the frame. The intake duct contains a pre-
separator for the intake air. This equipment is available for EU
countries too from 1st quarter 2004.

Gearbox
022GCS Gearbox 16S222 OD, 16 forward speeds, 2 reverse (please note

shifting. Moving off possible only in low range.

Power Take-Offs

Steering
030EES The steering wheel adjustment system is locked with pneumatic
assistance. To alter the position of the steering wheel a button to
the left of the driver's seat has to be pressed with the foot. The
steering wheel is freely adjustable and locks in position

Brake System
032ABS The MAN BrakeMatic electronic brake system regulates the
pressure in the brake cylinders of the individual wheels. The
modules are permanently linked to the central control unit via the
CAN data bus. In the control unit a host of up-to-date factors are
evaluated and the optimum brake pressures calculated. Systems
such as trailer control, brake pad wear regulation, ABS/ASR (if
fitted in vehicle) and constant braking function (triggering of
continuous brake functions) are integrated in the control unit.

02AABS The Baseline instrument panel (speed shown in km/h) is the new
basic equipment. As before, road speed, total distance covered
and distance per day, engine speed, boost pressure, clock time
and ambient temperature are shown with check lamps. In
addition: malfunction indicator in central display, cruise control,
gear and retarder stage display, plus indication of differential
locks, if engaged. Long-life LEDs are used instead of bulbs.
