Principles of Instructional Design

Instructional Design Project

Report 2 Instructional
Components
Instructional Goal Statement
As a result of this presentation, the third grade teachers at Andrews Elementary School will be able to use
Kahoot! To 1) create a Kahoot! account, 2) create quizzes, surveys, and online discussions to better reinforce content
for student success 3) use data from Kahoot! to learn what content needs to be readdressed during instruction.

Performance Objectives
Every learning or performance objective will contain three things: an observable action or task, the conditions or
environment under which a task is being completed, and the standard against which the performance will be measured.
Third grade teachers will be able to create a Kahoot! account.
Third grade teachers will be able to create a Kahoot! quiz, survey, and online discussion.
Third grade teachers will be able to use data from Kahoot! to learn what content needs to be readdressed during
instruction.

Instructional Sequence
There are three major components for third grade teachers to master the objectives. I will begin by modeling how
to go through the process of making a Kahoot! account. Once I model how to create an account, the teachers will then use
their computers to create their own Kahoot! account. After making an account, I will model how to create a Kahoot! quiz,
survey, and online discussion using third grade Social Studies standards on Native Americans. Each component will be
approximately 5 questions. I will have teachers participate and take the quiz, survey, and online discussion to be able to
pull data. Teachers will then be given the opportunity to create a Kahoot! quiz, survey, and online discussion using content
of their choice. Each of their components will be approximately 5 questions. As a group, we will then participate in each
others quizzes, surveys, and online discussions so they will be able to go through the process of pulling data. I will then
model how to pull data from the Kahoot! quizzes, surveys, and online discussions and model how to interpret the data for
further instruction. Teachers will then use their computers to pull and interpret the data from each of their components.

Pre-Instructional Activities
Prior to instruction with the online Kahoot! program, teachers are given a pre-survey. This survey determines if
teachers have any experience with the Kahoot! online educational website. If so, they will describe any experience and
knowledge they have of the program.

Strategies for Teaching Each Objective

Each objective is taught to mastery, which means that teachers will be re-taught and assisted until they are able to
complete each component of the objectives independently. I will use modeling and one-on-one help to teach each
objective.

Media Selections and Rationales for Delivery of Instruction

The materials required for teaching how to use the Kahoot! online website include: a computer for each teacher, the
districts Wi-Fi access, internet browser to have access to the Kahoot! online program, 3rd grade content notes to use for
quizzes, surveys, and online discussions, and a Promethean board and projector to model each objective. Modeling will
provide teachers the opportunity to see visually how to complete each objective. Having them complete each component
after seeing me model will help me to enable that they can complete one objective before proceeding to the next objective.
This will ensure that any obstacles a teacher may encounter can be addressed and corrected before moving on. In turn, this
will help ensure that teachers can master the objectives by the end of the presentation.

Pre and Post-TestsFormative Data (that will be used)

Pre and Post surveys will be used to determine what teachers know in regards to the Kahoot! online educational
program.

Pre-Survey Assessment for Formative Data

complete their objectives.

Screen to show data to show which students got which questions correct/incorrect. This data shows the answers the
students gave for each question and gives an overall performance percentage for the questions. You can also navigate
through each questions at the bottom of the Excel spreadsheet to analyze correct/incorrect answers for each question.
