To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Christy Nichols, and I am the Director of EDventure International and I was
extremely pleased to have Haley Reynolds participate in my Costa Rica EDventure
program this past summer.

The vision behind our organisation is to create socially responsible leaders of tomorrow by
shifting the perspective and engaging in worthwhile projects that are making significant
change on the ground in country. We do this through facilitating leadership workshops that
provide volunteers, such as Haley, with leadership and personal development workshops
that strengthen inherent leadership skills within, which are then applied through volunteer
work in local (in-country) communities.

In Costa Rica, Haley took part in a 3-week intensive cultural experience that gave her a
chance to work alongside other volunteers in the conservation effort of sea turtles.
Throughout her program, she was exposed to several local initiatives where she learned of
efforts to educate locals of the importance of sea turtle conservation, as well as assisted in
beach clean-up activities, all of which are included in her overseas volunteer experience as
a way to teach, challenge, and inspire.

For 7 days, Haley worked as part of a team to assist in the conservation of Green and
Leatherback sea turtles nesting on the Caribbean coast. The work she engaged in was
demanding on many levels. She was physically challenged as the shifts were scheduled to
begin late in the evening and last sometimes as late as 2am, sometimes in rainy weather.
Haley was also challenged mentally, as each day, after a late night shift, she participated in
Spanish language lessons. This role required stamina, grit, teamwork with others whom she
had never met before, and determination to get tasks done, to follow through in her
language lessons, and to contribute thoughtfully and effectively during the Leadership
workshops.

Our programs are not easy, but Haley not only participated in every activity, but she did so
by delving right into the rigors of the volunteering tasks and cultural immersion. She didnt
complain, but welcomed the challenge of engaging in something very trying, and to fully
understand the purpose of her responsibilities, and embrace the experience whole-
heartedly. She met every obstacle with a sense of humour that helped keep the group
mentality positive.

The second part of the week Haley worked in a very underprivileged community. Haley did
not fall short in assisting in our project to make the lives of the children here a bit brighter.

She tackled projects with both hands, helping to paint educational murals on the walls,
some on her own, some with the collaboration of other volunteers. Throughout a very hot
week, she consistently was busy, teaching the kids or working to improve their high school
by painting several classrooms.

Haley upheld her responsibilities as a volunteer admirably. Her genuine excitement in

being part of the program, the positive attitude she portrayed during challenging situations,
the bonds she formed with the other volunteers, all reflect the genuine high quality of her
character. Her approach to leadership was intelligent, wholesome, and engaging, and I
admire her efforts, both in her volunteer work and relationships with others. Im proud to
have had her involvement in the Costa Rica volunteer efforts, and would welcome her back
any day.

Sincerely,

Christy Nichols
