SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK

College of Allied Health Sciences
Course #: 35 351 SW

What is this course about?

Do you aspire to practice entry-level professional social work at the generalist level?

Do you want to impact the life of individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations?

termination?

In this course, we will use an ecological perspective. You will gain insight on human need from
a comprehensive, integrated, and holistic perspective. You will have an opportunity to explore
persons within their social environment, which can provide a paradigm for gaining insight on
systems and how their connections influence actions.

for a brief PowerPoint presentation to share what you have learned about the interview, disorder,
treatment plan and insights gleamed for practice.

In pairs, you will put together a video-recorded interview stimulating a client/therapist second
meeting session. You will evaluate, provide a treatment plan, and enhance your intervention
skills through peer-to-peer assessment and by completion of a survey.

Peer-to-peer assessment will be a source of evaluation to help you gain insight on direct practice
proficiency. The survey will provide critical feedback on case studies.

In your group discussions, you will encourage a sharing of ideas, discuss effective
communication and build cohesiveness. You will gain insight on the invaluable role of the
generalist social worker, which will serve to strengthen your service as you enter the social work
profession.
