Research Experiences
Research Assistant at Data Mining and Computational Biology (DMCB) Lab., GIST 2012 - 2016
Adviser: Prof. Hyunju Lee.
Topics: text mining, machine learning, databases, sentiment analysis, social media mining, deep learning
Projects
Modeling user interest in social media for personalized services.
News media articles and categories are used to estimate a user interest without labeled data.
Wikipedia-based features are devised to capture the semantics of social media text.
Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and word embedding technique are used to estimate a
user interest with labeled data.
Sentizer: Sentiment analysis systems for twitter data.
Word embeddings, n-grams, sentiment lexicons, and etc. are used to map tweets into feature
vectors.
The feature vectors from tweets are used to determine the sentiment of tweets using SVM
classifier.
Bio-signals database design and implementation
Bio-signals database is used to store and manage the extracted features of emotional audience
responses during cultural events.

Research Assistant at Multi-agent and Cloud Computing Systems (MACCS) Lab., GIST 2009 - 2012
Adviser: Prof. Kwang Mong Sim.
Topics: multi-agent systems, ontology, search engine, agent-based information retrieval.
Projects
Cloudle: An ontology-enhanced cloud service search engine.
Cloud ontology is designed in order to represent semantic relations among Cloud service
concepts.
Three kinds of reasoning methods are devised and implemented for determining the similarity
among Cloud services.
Designing a brokering protocol for agent-based grid resource discovery.
Three types of agents (user agent, provider agent, and broker agent) are used.
Each broker agent connects user agents to provider agents using the connection algorithm which
mainly consists of 4 stages: selection, evaluation, filtering, and recommendation.

Research Assistant at Natural Language Processing (NLP) Lab., CNU 2006 - 2008
Adviser: Prof. Jeong-Won Cha.
Topics: Information retrieval, natural language processing, POS tagging.
