SCANDISK is a software utility that comes with the Windows operating system. It
detects and corrects errors in the hard disk.
DISK DEFRAGMENTING is a utility in the Windows that rearrange the files
stored on the disk to increase efficiency and reduce access.
Backing up files while hard drives nowadays become very reliable, there is still a
chance that they will fail, causing you to lose important files. So its best to back-
up documents, pictures and other data on your hard drive from time to time. To back-up
a drive is to make a copy of files which and stored these in a separately location from the
original files.

how to access scandisk, disk defragmenting and backing up files.

Use good, cryptic passwords that cant be easily guessed keep your password secret
Make sure your computer is protected with up to date antivirus and anti-spyware
software.

unknown file or programs.

seemingly logical manner. It is similar to how someone would arrange documents and
important papers in a filing cabinet.

How to manage files


Use Windows Explorer to rearrange and organize your files by:
Creating folder and subfolder
Moving files to specific location
Renaming files logically for easy retrieval.
Saving files to in a specifically designated folder as you created they.

What is a file?
A file is a piece of information which is stored on a computer. A file can be
something as basic as a Microsoft Word Document to something as intricate as a video.
A FILE NAME is made up of two parts:
(1) the name of the document and
(2) The file extension.
Use only letters and numbers in your FILE NAMES -- Special characters like "-", "/",
"&", must be avoided in the file name.
You may name a file anything you wish, but you should probably name it something you
are likely to remember.

Copying Folder
1. Click (with the right mouse button) on the file or folder that you want to copy.
2. Select COPY from the drop down menu.
3. Then navigate to the folder or drive/ disk you want to place your copy into.
4. Right click within the folder or drive and select PASTE
Deleting Folder
1. Right click on the file that you wish to delete
2. Choose DELETE.
3. Select YES.
