Vicedo, Marga. "The Evolution of Harry Harlow: from the Nature to the Nurture of Love."

History of Psychiatry. 21.2 (2010): 190-205. Web. 03 Oct. 2017.

In chapter 6, Haidt conveys the importance of Harry Harlows experiments with rhesus

monkeys and the data he collected from them. Harlow revolutionized psychology by

proving the contact comfort is a need that mammals acquire from their mothers. I

searched for an article that discusses Harlows timeline and his advancements through his

career. Although the rhesus monkey experiment was his most famous, that was not his

only experiment. Harlow studied the significance of peer relationships, which led to the

significance of separate affection systems. These studies differed Harlow from the rest of

the psychologist, and advancing him in his career.

Bastian, Brock, Madeline L. Pe, and Peter Kuppens. "Perceived Social Pressure Not to

Experience Negative Emotion Is Linked to Selective Attention for Negative

Information." Cognition and Emotion. 31.2 (2017): 261-268. Web. 03 Oct. 2017.

This article discusses how social pressure to not experience negative emotion, is

associated with selective attention for negative information. Findings have concluded that
people who often experience negative emotions do not show a selective avoidance of

negative emotional information. This article relates to the selective attention test, because

half of the class focused on how many times the ball was passed instead of the entire

surrounding, and they missed the gorilla that casually walked through. Somehow, I saw

the gorilla walk through but didnt count the correct number of passes. I find this

interesting how diverse a group of people can be.

Tamarit, Ignacio, and Angel Snchez. "Emotions and Strategic Behaviour: The Case of the

Ultimatum Game." Plos One. 11.7 (2016). Web. 03 Oct. 2017.

In chapter 3, Haidt reveals the ultimatum game which studies the tension between

fairness and greed. This game was invented by economist; however, this article discusses

how scientist have incorporated the influence of emotions and the impact it has on the

ultimatum game. The scientists have analyzed the results with the circumplex model of

emotions, and have made predictions for the offer and acceptance thresholds.

Glasnovi, Anton, Goran Babi, and Vida Demarin. "Psychoanalysis Has Its Place in Modern

Medicine, and Neuropsychoanalysis Is Here to Support It." Croatian Medical Journal.

56.5 (2015). Web. 03 Oct. 2017.

In chapter 6, Haidt examines John Bowlby findings. Bowlby discovered the attachment

theory, which is the idea that safety and exploration determines childrens behavior. This

article broadens his theory by understanding different perspectives in other fields, such as
biology and neuroscience. Scientists found that these subjects have a strong effect on the

attachment theory.

Myers, Steve. "The Five Functions of Psychological Type." Journal of Analytical Psychology.

61.2 (2016): 183-202. Web. 03 Oct. 2017.

The Myers Brigg test raised my attention to my personality. It gave me results that I did

not completely agree with. It said that I was an extrovert, however I see myself as an

introvert. This article discusses the book, Psychological Types, and articulates that many

people came up with the philosophy that encourages one sidedness. I find this interesting

because I can see myself on multiple sides of the Myer Briggs scale.
