Classroom Management Plan:

I. Introduction:
A. Rules and procedures are fundamental aspects of daily life. We follow rules and procedures in our daily lives for everything, from
approaching a traffic light to buying a prescription.
B. Rules and procedures are also fundamental to this classroom. They ensure a positive classroom atmosphere, and ensure a controlled
learning environment that benefits everyone.

II. Procedures for Entering Class (in-order):

A. Do not crowd or congest the hallway by standing or waiting outside the door
B. Enter peacefully, without running or pushing
C. Choose your seat and sit down (remember, you cannot change seats once class begins unless directed or permitted to do so)
D. Read through the daily objectives on the front board
E. Begin work on the daily reflection activity, if one is posted
F. You may speak quietly with neighbors if you come before the bell rings
G. Wait for further instructions from the teacher

III. Procedures for Entering Class Late:

A. You are considered late to class if you are not inside the classroom when the bell rings
B. If you are late to class please do the following:
1. Walk in quietly, making as little noise as possible
2. If you have a pass, leave it on the front desk before you sit at an available seat
3. Join the activity in progress. If you are confused about what the class is doing, raise your hand to ask for clarification.
4. Check-in with me before leaving class for the day
C. Consequences for Tardiness see below

IV. Procedures for Absences:

A. Students get sick, family emergencies come up, and cars break down. I understand absences are normal, but I do ask that you be
proactive in finding out what you missed.
1. You are still responsible to make-up any assignments in a timely manner when you return from an absence
2. If you need to reschedule a test, do so during the end of class. Tests can only be made up before school, during lunch, or after
school. Please make previous arrangements before showing up.
B. Do not rely on friends to catch you up. If you have an internet connection, email me as soon as possible.
1. Please attach and submit missing assignments via email if possible.
3|Page Dhagat, Sandeep (Fall 2017)

2. Lecture power points, activity handouts, and homework are posted on the class website if needed.

V. Turning in Assignments:
A. Please have your first name, last name, and date on all homework, projects, tests, quizzes, and assignments turned in
B. All blank assignments will be graded, but will not be entered into the grading system until I verify the owner
C. See Procedures for Absences (IV) for submitting assignments during or after an absence

VI. Extra Credit Assignments:

A. Extra Credit opportunities will be listed in the class syllabus with due dates.
B. Late extra credit assignments will be reviewed, but no points will be given unless an extension was approved beforehand.
C. Anyone may turn in extra credit, and there are no limitations on the number of extra credit points you can earn.

VII. Procedures for Exiting Class:

A. Pack up all your belongings and check you have not left anything behind
B. Clean up all garbage on and below your table.
C. Return any lost items you find to the teachers desk at the front of the room before leaving
D. Stay seated until the bell rings and the teacher dismisses you
E. You may talk quietly with neighbors if class has finished before the bell rings

VIII. Procedures When Finishing Early:

A. During tests, quizzes, labs, and projects you may finish ahead of your classmates, in which case you may:
1. Read independently
2. Work on an assignment for this class or another class
3. Write
4. Draw
5. Listen to music quietly (earbuds in, no loud volume, and do not use any other apps or Internet services)
6. Work on extra credit
B. If you finish early you may not:
1. Leave the classroom to wander the hallways
2. Talk with other students
3. Disrupt the classroom while others are still working or testing

IX. Restroom & Nurse Policy:

A. You are the best judge of when you need to go to the bathroom or get a drink
4|Page Dhagat, Sandeep (Fall 2017)

1. I trust you to make the right choices, but I reserve the right to restrict restroom or water fountain access if I receive complaints of
loitering
2. Raise your hand, ask permission, get permission, and then sign out
3. If someone has left to go the bathroom or get a drink, wait till he/she returns before asking permission
B. Your health, safety, and wellbeing are my number-one concern. If a medical emergency occurs, please feel free to disrupt me and
signal you need to receive attention from the Nurse
1. If you need assistance getting to the Nurses office, please ask or signal, so that I may select a suitable individual to accompany
you
2. For minor situations (e.g. sore throat, coughing, upset stomach) please wait to go during a transition period or when there is a quiet
moment in class
3. See Consequences (XI) if you are found loitering in the hallway after asking to see the nurse for a medical concern

X. Classroom Rules:
A. Classroom Rules are posted inside the classroom at the front and back of the room. Please refer to them as needed.
1. Respect the teacher and your classmates
2. Refrain from swearing, teasing or name calling
3. Keep your phone in your backpack, with all ringtones and notifications on silent
4. Follow lab safety procedures and all directions
5. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself

B. I appreciate feedback from students regarding class rules. If you have a suggestion or complaint feel free to speak to me during the end
of class. I promise to listen, but I reserve the right to make or not make changes.

XI. Consequences:
A. Everything broken rule in life has a consequence. If you choose to run a red light, you must accept the consequences that come with it
(traffic ticket, taking someones life, crashing your car, etc). Consequences are the result of choosing not to obey a rule.

reach the 3rd step two weeks in a row you will be referred to administration automatically.

following rewards list:
