The fuselage and the tail are built in NAPLES (Italy) with section 16 from Xian (China).
The wing is assembled by SOGERMA in BORDEAUX-MERIGNAC (France) with external part of the Wing center box from Xian (China).
Engines come from Pratt & Whitney in Longueil Canada.
Propellers come from RATIER FIGEAC in Figeac - France.
Final assembly and flight tests take place at TOULOUSE (France).

Several versions of the ATR42 are available to combine passengers transportation with freight.
The cabin layout may range from 42 to 50 passengers.

The flight deck can accommodate two pilots and one observer.
The two pilots seats are stowed by sliding laterally against the flight deck side.
In flight position, these seats have to move to the center line of the flight deck and then forward.
They are also reclining.

This mode, available on the RH engine, is used only on ground, to provide aircraft electrical supply and air conditioning.
Hotel Mode works with the LP and HP stages running and the propeller brake locked.
Hotel Mode = Right engine running + Propeller brake on + Gust lock on + right condition lever at feather.
