Third Sunday of Advent

Greetings of peace.

I hope that you are having a good Advent season. We are noticing at the Shrine that we don't have
enough liturgical ministers at Mass. There are two kinds of liturgical ministers: Lectors and Eucharistic
Ministers. Lectors do the scripture readings of the day from the pulpit. On weekends, they also read the
Prayer of the Faithful. Eucharistic Ministers help the priest to administer the Body and Blood of Christ at
Communion. Please pray about whether you might be able to do one of these roles for us. If you are
indeed willing to take one of these volunteer roles, or have questions about them, please contact Mr. Fred
Brown at fbrown@stanthonyshrine.org. A short training period is involved before actually beginning the
role. Thank you for considering this request!

Fr. Thomas Conway, OFM

Executive Director

Year-End Gifts
As the end of the year approaches, we invite you to consider
making a tax-deductible gift to the Shrine. There are a
number of ways to make this gift.
1. Cash/check - may be given in person or via the U.S mail.
Please note that the gift must be postmarked by December
31 to be counted for a 2017 tax deduction.
2. Credit card Make a gift on line www.stanthonyshrine.org
with a credit card. Or, you may call the Development Office
(857-206-7243) and give your credit card over the
telephone. Our electronic giving kiosks in the lobby, and at
the information booth are two other options for credit card
gifts.
3. IRA Charitable Rollover If you or someone you know is 70
or older and has a traditional Individual Retirement
Account (IRA), you can use your required minimum
distribution to support the Shrine through a Charitable
Rollover gift. Contact the administrator of your plan and ask
that your distribution be a charitable rollover to the Shrine.
4. Matching Gifts A corporate matching gift is a tremendous
way to increase your personal gift to the Shrine. We
encourage you to take advantage of your employers
matching gift program.
Thank you for all you do to help us live out the Gospel in
Boston. Please continue to pray for all those whom we serve
with love and compassion. If you have questions about
making a gift, please contact Maryanne Rooney-Hegan at
(617) 542-6440 ext. 115.
