width D-2 is less than 20 mm.
New piston ring D-1 = 23.3 mm.
Worn piston ring D-2 = 20 mm.

new cylinder liner or at bottom of a
used liner.
Working ring gap D-3 = 3.4 mm.

5. The maximum vertical height in a worn
ring groove must not exceed D-5:

Groove Nos. 1 = 16.9 mm

Groove Nos. 2,3 and 4 = 12.9 mm

The groove is also worn out if there is

no chromium layer.

If the maximum vertical height is ex-

ceeded, the piston crown must be sent
to an MAN B&W authorized repair shop
for reconditioning.

Controlled Pressure Relief (CPR) ring
(ring No. 1), be careful not to damage
