2017 Christmas Message of Rev. Fr. Louie R. Coronel, OP,

We have received on the first Christmas the greatest gift we can ever have, “a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths
and lying in a manger” (Lk 2:12), the “Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us” (Jn 1:14). With Jesus
Christ Our Lord, we can never be alone. We should never be selfish for God Himself commanded us to “love
one another as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34). It is not a request but a command. “We love because [God] first
loved us” (1 Jn 4:19). With such an overflowing love, we cannot but be a gift to others. Be the love of God who
comfort those who are weary and desolate; be a shoulder to cry on for those who are in despair; be a breath of
fresh air for those who are suffocated by life’s trials. One’s embrace could be of value to those who are in the
cold. One’s listening heart could renew a tired heart. One’s presence is indeed a gift that could make the
difference between life and death. The love that we receive is the love that we share. Let us open our hearts to
receive the grace of Christ Himself. Walang Mag-iisa Ngayong Pasko.
