Introduction
SharePlex version 8.0 represents the first significant step
in transforming the way people see the product. This tech
brief showcases many of the updates and enhancements
to SharePlex version 8.0 and will guide you through your
evaluation and use of the product.
For the first time in its 15-year history as the market-leading,
non-native database replication solution, SharePlex expands
its functionality beyond Oracle to enable near real-time data
integration. Using change data capture methodology, the
SharePlex v8.0 release now makes it possible to deliver Oracle
data to structured and unstructured databases.

Improved capture performance on
Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
For those simplifying the management
of database data files, control files and
log files utilizing Automatic Storage
Management (ASM), SharePlex has been
updated for reading redo logs that are
managed by ASM, making SharePlex
capture speed up to 10 times faster.
Tracing facility
The trace command can be used to get
performance and process activity about
SharePlex capture, read and post during
a specific period of time, providing better
insight into its utilization. This feature can
be helpful for capacity planning and future
project planning, as well as for re-design
of the SharePlex environment architecture.
Transaction modeling
Optimize SharePlex configuration setup
with the new transaction modeling
feature. Several config commands have
been added to provide a statistical
analysis of database transaction activity
on a set of tables in a configuration
file during a specific period of time.
This feature assists with SharePlex
configuration and setup.
Use Cases
SharePlex offers a degree of
completeness not found in other
replication tools. SharePlex supports
replication of tables with Long columns,
tables with referential integrity-enabled,
tables without a primary key, tables with
LOB, Index Organized tables, user defined
types, and sequences in the Oracle
database. This degree of completeness
allows flexible data replication to the
target instance.

unlimited number of target systems,
located in different cities, states,

rows are not replicated.
