general pipe rack configuration (0) Divide the lines inside

the pipe rack

When designing the pipe rack for different types of pipes and electric wires, the first
,should consider the horizontal line spacing

The 14-inch diameter diagonal lines you see on the edge of the pipe rack .1

cables of electricity are at the highest level in the pipe rack - 2

(cooling lines (major diameters) at the lowest level (closest to the level of land - 3

lines of utlities and insturment at the highest level in the pipe rack (in the middle - 4
(between the other lines and cable tray

Short-length lines with the lowest level in the pipe rack or long lines at the highest level -5

Of course, the line spacing chart to illustrate the horizontal distances between the lines and
each other as well as the distances between each of the roles of the pipe rack

Considering a 3-level Pipe Rack, Lines will be placed in the preferred locations conforming
.to the following
.Largest and Heaviest lines to the Outside .1
.Group Steam and Condensate lines on top tier with largest and hottest at rack edge .2
1/2
Large bore cooling water lines on bottom level, at rack edge as most users will be at.3
.grade
.If possible route Large bore cooling water lines underground
.Small bore Utility and instrument lines top level center .4
Branches should connect to the top of headers containing a gas or vapor and to the .5
.bottom of heads containing liquids
Equipment elevation and line destination will sometimes dictate the rack elevations. As a.6
general guide, short distances process lines will occupy the lower level and longer
.distances process lines will occupy the middle and top levels
Careful consideration should be given to economic routing and flexibility of exortic .7
.material lines
.Lines to be spaced according to the line spacing charts .8
.Line spacing should be checked for expansion clearance at changes of direction .9
Cable trays are preferably located on the top pipe rack level. Different types of cables .10
.require a separate distance
Position of lines may depend on location of utility and process lines entering or leaving .11
.the battery limits
.Group lines with cold insulation together and locate away from hot insulated lines .12
.Special consideration must be given to the flare or relief header .13
.Lines crossing battery limits will be normally valved requiring platform access .14
Locate flare header at the edge of the rack to accommodate any flat expansion loops .15
.that may be required
.The above points are to taken care in the rack piping planning
