Determining the dental age diagnosis and the concordance with biological and bony age on patients, dental casts, panoramic and wrist X-ray and – 3h 2. Determining the normal and abnormal occlusal relations in the three special directions on patients and dental casts (3 occlusal elevations and 2 occlusal mesialising processes – 3h 3. Accomplishing the patients anamnesis (general data, chief complaint, personal and familial history) – 2h 4. Patient‟s general clinical examination (physical and psychological development) and determining the need for complementary examinations) – 2h 5. Clinical facial examination (cranial types, facial types, facial symmetry, facial thirds, facial profile, facial morphological elements, facial anthropometry, soft tissue and TMJ examination) – 2h 6. Oral clinical examination (oral vestibule, dento-alveolar arches, gums, palate, tongue, floor of the mouth, static and dynamic occlusion, lower jaw-cranial reports) – 2h 7. Functional clinical examination (functional tests for assessing breathing, swallowing, chewing, phonation, detection of vicious habits and parafunctions). Presumptive diagnosis – 2h 8. Presumptive diagnosis (clinical anatomical, topographical, functional ,etiological, evolutive and differential) and complementary examinations – 2h 9. DESCRIPTION PRACTICAL STAGES = 76 hours
1. Clinical examination of the patient and writing of the clinical charts (2 per student): - the medical anamnesis - evaluation of the psycho-somatic developmental level - the facial examination - the oral examination - examination and evaluation of the dental occlusion inside the developmental dynamics - exploration of the dento-maxillary apparatus functions - the presumptive diagnosis 2. Impression in orthodontics (2 per student): - choosing and preparing of the impression tray - impression technique - examination of the impression - cast of the study and work cast - preparation of the cast basis 3. Paraclinical examination (2 per student) : - study cast analysis - interpretation of the face and profile photography - interpretation of the orthopantomography - interpretation of the profile teleradiography (points, planes, angles) 4. Examination of the removable appliance wire elements (1 per student): - anchorage elements: simple clasp, Stahl clasp, delta clasp, Adams clasp, Schwartz clasp - action elements : Coffin arch wire, Vestibular arch, Canine distalization arch, mushroom arch, “8” arch, double “8” arch, diapason arch, S arch, double S arch - functional elements : lingual shield 5. Orthodontic diagnosis and treatment plan (2 per student) 6. Adaptation of the removable orthodontic appliance in the oral cavity under the supervision of an orthodontics specialist (2 per student)
COMPETENCES VTH YEAR STUDENTS
1. To be able to identify and diagnose a dental-maxilarry disorder and to evaluate the treatment need: - identifying the dental-maxillary disorders (dentition development disorders and malocclusions); - identifying the trigger factors for the dental-maxillary disorders; - evaluation of the minimum paraclinical examination set for the orthodontic diagnostic (the study cast and the interpretation of the panoramic radiography). 2. To be familiarized with the classic and modern orthodontic therapeutically means and methods. 3. To be informed and capable to indicate the necessity of a space maintainer and of a removable orthodontic appliance for the treatment of the isolated dental anomalies and of the cross bite.
