How to Make Eggs

i can
make eggs now –
cracked into a bowl, soft yellow orbs floating til i add the water (instead of milk),
cayenne (for joints), and whisk.
the yellow goop is
poured into a hot skillet, coated with melted butter (no margarine because of studies)

- And -

i cry

about not eating your gumbo after coming home from a stressful day to a freshly cleaned
apartment, the aroma of burning candles, laundry folded and hung…
because i never tried the crawfish to add to your army as they lined up across the table prepared
for some imaginary battle against boredom

i still

can’t make an omelet

i just settle
