“A Dream Come True”

Indeed, being here in Korea is a dream come true for me who have always wanted to
experience how beautiful and interesting this country is. So when I was told that I would be
sent here as an Exchange Student, I did not have second thoughts but only the eagerness and
the excitement to pack my things and brace myself for a cultural immersion I have long been
looking forward. However, I found it a big challenge to be in a country where people speak a
different language and who live an entirely different way from what I am used to. With these
in mind, I know should make myself ready for any changes.

Charles Darwin once said “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, or the
most intelligent, but it is the one that most adaptable to change.” Therefore, no matter how
different the language and culture of Korea can be from mine, I know that I can still make my
stay here a truly unforgettable moment in my life, to boot.

It is also a dream come true for me to be chosen among the thousands of students
from my home university. It is very overwhelming to be reckoned as one of the best students.
But I know that this opportunity comes with very big responsibilities- to take pride in
bringing the name of my home university and to test how high I can soar with what God
endowed me as an individual.

When I was still in the Philippines, I was informed that Far East University is a very
conducive learning institution because of its modern infrastructure and equipment. I do
believe that such things can really contribute in making a successful learning attainable. And
to the students of this university, this is what I have to say: you are very lucky!

I am lucky too for I was given the opportunity to participate in the university’s Global
Leadership Development Program (GLDP). It was truly a fulfillment for me as an Exchange
Student to be able to impart everything that I am capable and knowledgeable of. I was also
able to apply all the things that I learned from the academe. Moreover, with my GLDP
experience, I learned more and became a more competitive individual.

I am a graduating student and in no time I will be starting a new chapter of my life-

working. This experience definitely helped me a lot to achieve what I truly deserve in the
near future. When I get back to the Philippines and have my diploma, I will be looking
forward to going back here to work. I believe that this country can also make my greatest
dream come true- to be an English language instructor.

I still have several months to stay here. And though I know that I am missing my
family and friends so much that sometimes I wanted to go home, I still want to continue. I
will make the most out of my stay here for I know that there a lot of valuable lessons and
experiences that are out there for me. Besides, I am looking forward to participate again in
this coming winter GLDP.

Indeed, I will never forget Korea, particularly Far East University because it made
some of my dreams come true!
