The Department of Music invites applications for the position of Director of Bands and Brass Instructor.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to be active in service to the Department and to the University.
Candidate will be responsible for the management and direction of Clark Atlanta University’s Mighty
Marching Panthers (marching band), Concert Band, and Pep Band. He or she will provide overall
leadership of the band staff and their responsibilities including band arranging, field show design, program
development, a scholarship program and fund raising. During football season, candidate will coordinate
band activities with the Athletics Department and arrange tours. Teaching responsibilities will include
applied brass and related coursework, including methods courses as needed.

Qualifications:
A candidate with a terminal degree in Music Education with a focus on band management or conducting is
preferred. An M.A. is required. Candidate must have a proven record of directing and managing bands at
the college level, experience with fund raising and recruitment, and the ability to collaborate with others in
the ongoing development of the music curriculum.
