PRESENTING
SINGAPORE
A fishing village first discovered in 1819, Singapore has since
transformed into a cosmopolitan city today. A melting pot of
both commercial and leisure activities, this city state is a place
where visitors get to experience a bit of everything. You are
invited to embark on an exciting journey of culture, heritage,
and contemporary happenings within this city!
12 MUST DO
THINGS IN SINGAPORE
You’ve never really experienced Singapore if you haven’t tried our list of
recommended things to do. This is where the real charm of Singapore lies.
Are you ready?

 Eat at a hawker centre!

A hawker center is an open-air cooked food
marketplace found in both city centres and the
heartlands. The dishes served are as authentic as it
gets. Get a hearty meal and a drink for less than $5.
(Stop 10 on Red Line or Stop 5 on Brown Line)

 Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel

This signature cocktail was first concocted at the
Long Bar of Raffles Hotel by bartender Ngiam Tong
Boon in the early 1900’s. Order one for yourself and
embrace the quaint beauty of the Raffles Hotel.
(Stop 14 on Blue Line or stop 21 on Yellow Line)

 Party at Clarke Quay

A dining and entertainment destination, Clarke
Quay houses restaurants, cafes, jazz lounges, and
clubs. Come here at night for a riverside dinner,
then party away at the non-mainstream clubs.
(Stop 6 on Yellow Line or stop 13 on Brown Line)

 Selfie with the Merlion

Take a stroll along the Merlion Park, enjoy the
waterfront, and take a photo with the famous
Merlion. With a head of a lion and body of a fish,
this mythical icon has become synonymous with
Singapore’s history. (Stop 3 on Brown Line)

 Walk through Geylang

While Geylang may be known as a red-light district,
there are plenty of other things to do and see at this
edgy neighbourhood – sample local fruits, hunt
down supper fare (open all night), enjoy a foot
reflexology massage, and even go prawn-fishing!

 Immerse in the heartlands

Tiong Bahru, Toa Payoh, and Marine Parade are
just some of the colorful heartlands you should visit.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do – this is the
best way to see how the locals dine, live, and play.
(Stop 7 on the Brown Line for Tiong Bahru)

5 Presenting Singapore
12 MUST DO
THINGS IN SINGAPORE
 Go ethnic
While Singapore is known as a metropolitan city,
diversity is what makes it unique. Check-out
Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam (Arab
enclave) for the distinct flavors of each ethic
community. (Stop 2, 5 and 10 on Red Line).

 Temple visiting
Places of worship are abundant and often near to
each other. The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in
Chinatown is just a block away from Sri Mariamman
Temple — the oldest Hindu temple.
(Stop 5 on Brown Line or Stop 10 on Red Line)

 The famous Chilli Crab of Singapore!

Chilli Crab is listed number 35 on “The World’s 50
Most Delicious Foods” compiled by CNN Go in 2011.
Giant mud crabs weighing up to 2.5kg are cooked in
yummy chilli egg sauce. This iconic dish is a must-try
to complete the culinary journey of any traveller.

 Join walking tours

Travel by foot - join a walking tour and comb through
Little India or Chinatown to experience the country’s
rich heritage up close. You might just find gems and
unique souvenirs in the bustling markets to bring
home with you. (Visit www.walkingtours.com.sg)

 Hop-On Hop-Off (HoHo) city sightseeing

Enjoy Singapore with the Hop-On Hop-Off (HoHo)
transport network. With 7 different routes and a high
bus frequency, the network connects you from city
hotels to major tours and attractions, saving you time
and transportation cost.

 Try Asia’s First GOURMETbus

What do you get when you add sightseeing and
yummy local eats? Check-out the Singapore
GOURMETbus, a 32 seater double decker bus with
fine dining on the top deck and a lounge in the lower
deck. Great way to enjoy the city!
(Visit www.GOURMETbus.com.sg)

SHOPPING
IN SINGAPORE
Shopping in Singapore is an experience like no other. One of the most vibrant
shopping hubs in Asia, Singapore is the retail heaven for locals and visitors alike.
Here is our editors’ list of recommended shopping locations.

 Orchard Road, a great shopping street

A 2.2-km long fashion paradise, Orchard Road is to
Singapore what Fifth Avenue is to New York. From
opulent brands at ION and Paragon to everyday wear at
Ngee Ann City and Wisma Atria, there’s something for a
wide range of budgets. (Stop 14 - 18 on Yellow Line)

 The Shoppes at MBS, all things luxury

The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is Singapore's first
large-scale luxury shopping mall in the Central Business
District. Expect nothing less than international luxury
brands, local iconic brands and emerging indie fashion
labels. (Stop 3 on Yellow Line and Stop 15 on Red Line)

 Suntec City, Fountain of Wealth

Designed based on principles of Chinese geomancy,
Suntec City resembles a left hand with the world’s
largest water fountain positioned as its palm. When you
are done shopping, don’t forget to take a turn at the
fountain for good luck. (Stop S on all Lines)

 Sim Lim Square – all things electronic

This is one of the best places to go for all things
computer and tech-related. From laptops and iPads to
printers, headphones and smart watches, there is
always a bargain waiting for you. Word of advice: try
shopping at level 3 and above. (Stop 11 on Blue Line)

 Bugis Street, the night market

Comprising hundreds of small stalls set up by young
entrepreneurs sourcing various interesting pickups from
Asia, Bugis Street is the most exciting place for street
shopping in Singapore. Open from noon, it truly comes
alive after dusk. (Stop 6 on Red Line)

 Thieves Market, open-air flea market ly

0 Ju
In its heyday, Thieves Market saw more than 400 ing 1
Clos
vendors selling used items along Sungei Road. Today,
it is the place for second-hand merchandise, from vinyl

hectares of land has an extensive range of more than
60,000 plants. Located within the Singapore Botanic
Gardens is the National Orchid Gardens, boasting the
world’s largest orchid display. (Stop 13 on Yellow Line)

 Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Singapore’s only protected wetland nature park is home
to over 500 species of animals and plants. The best
time to visit is early morning where all animals like
otters, crabs and even water snakes are most active.
Remember to bring your cameras!

 Pulau Ubin
Located in the northeast of Singapore, Pulau Ubin is
blessed with an abundance of flora and fauna. Home to
a significant number of visiting and resident birds, the
island is a must-go for avid bird watchers. Don’t forget
to bring your binoculars!

 Fort Canning Park

One of Singapore’s most historic and beautiful
landmarks, this is where the British surrendered
Singapore to the Japanese during WWII. The
highlights are the spice garden, WWII bunker and
Gothic-styled gates. (Stop 6 or 7 on Yellow Line)

 Southern Ridges
This 10km stretch of connecting trails lets you walk
among the top of the trees to observe a wide variety of
flora and fauna in their natural habitat. You can also get
a panoramic view of the city, harbour and the Southern
Islands. Best time to visit is early in the morning!

roads are closed to vehicles to cater to all sorts of
pedestrian merriment. Choose from more than 20
establishments offering cocktails, craft beers, rare

that catches your fancy, it is as authentic as it gets here.
(Stop 10 on Red Line and Stop 5 on Brown Line)

Muthu’s Curry has been serving their signature dish

The chef of “328 Katong Laksa” beat Gordon Ramsay

and/or utilizing the Pass, you (the “Holder”) are deemed to have accepted the trading terms and
conditions of the Pass published herewith below:

1. Whilst BBS will have used all reasonable endeavors to ensure that the information
contained herewith or any other publication, online or offline, is accurate at the time of
print/publishing. BBS shall not be liable for any loss, expense, damages or other
inconvenience caused in whole or part by the reliance of such information. The Pass Holder
and/or user of the information do so at his/her own risk.

2. Opening day or times of attractions/museums/tours/restaurants (the “Attractions”) can

fluctuate from time to time and Pass Holder is recommended to check with the Attraction
concern prior to visiting it to ascertain the operating hours. Contact details of all Attractions
are available in the guidebook provided.

3. Whilst BBS endeavors to maintain the consistency of the Pass’s product line-up,
participating Attractions may be withdrawn at any time without prior notice and/or
compensation. BBS will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, expense or
inconvenience connected with the changes in the product line up. When possible, updated
information of product line up and offering will be made available online at: www.singapore-
pass.com.sg

4. Admission to Attractions is subject to the Pass being valid. All Attractions listed are
contractually bounded with BBS to offer admission to Pass Holder without further payment.
This admission is subjected to normal admission criteria and standard tours.

5. BBS will use all reasonable endeavors to facilitate admission or other discount privileges in
accordance with the terms of the Pass with all participating Attractions. However, BBS will
not be responsible, or liable for any loss, damage, expense, or inconvenience, if any
attractions, contrary to the terms of contract with BBS, unlawfully and with no good cause,
refuse admission in accordance what was contractually agreed on. Pass Holders do not
have a right to claim from BBS for any Attractions that decline them entry or are not available
during their time of visit.

6. BBS have taken reasonable care to ensure that only reputable Attractions are included in
the Pass. BBS is not liable for any deficiencies of service, quality of food, products and
services, safety standards at any particular facility. All and any complaints or claims for
redress must be made directly to the attractions concerned.

7. The Pass may only be used by the Pass’s signatory. The Pass is non-transferable and
non-refundable. No refund or replacement can be offered for unused, lost or stolen cards.

8. Each Pass is only valid for one visit per facility. Pass validity is based on calendar day (or
subsequent calendar days). It is NOT based on 24 hours duration. A single day pass
activated at 1500 hrs will expire at 2359 hrs the same day.

9. The Pass Holder recognizes and accepts that he/she visits any Attractions voluntarily and
entirely at their own risk. BBS is not in any way responsible for the Attraction’s conditions,
loss (bodily or monetary) arising from Attraction visits or third party acts or commission at
any Attractions. All and any complaints or claims for redress must be made directly to the
Attractions concerned.

10. Please note the validity of Pass at the time of purchase and it varies depending on the type
of Passes. Upon activation (using it at first attraction) the Pass will expire within the
prescribed period, which also varies depending on the type of Pass. There will be no refund
or compensation for any unused benefits or for any benefits that were not available at your
time of visit.

11. All cards sold are non refundable, non exchangeable and non transferable.

use of the Pass, the Guide Book and benefits. All responsibility for the conduct, quality,
availability or other things in respect of the use of any benefit is solely borne by the relevant
Attractions.

13. BBS limits our liability or warranties implied by statute or otherwise by resupplying the
relevant services. If there is any litigation, it is agreed that it will only be under the jurisdiction
of Singapore court.
