Identify any NEEDS of business ethics from the movie

One of the needs of business ethics from this movie, Internship is the communication
between manager and employees in the company. For example, when the manager of the
company that Billy and Nick used to work, Sammy didn’t tell them that their company
already closed and bankrupt. As manager, Sammy must told or give notices to the Billy and
Nick or to the other employees, so they know all the information about the company.
Basically from this movie, it can be seen that there’s no communication between Sammy and
his employees in the company. Communication is one of important factor between manager
and employees in order to make the company successful and can operate without any
problems. Besides, with communication between manager and employees, the employees can
openly give their opinion or ideas to the manager. So, there will be different ideas and opinion
that the manager can choose to make a better decision making. Good communication also
prevents misunderstandings among people in the workplace. When employees are able to
converse efficiently with each other, misunderstandings will be resolved in an amicable
manner. Furthermore, unnecessary friction is avoided. This means that employees will be able
to concentrate better on their work. With good communication also can make the employees
more motivate and can encourages them to work hard and to have a mindset of achieving
various goals.

Then, the other needs of business ethics from this movies is the employees need to
offer and give the service equally to the customer. For example, from this movie, we can see
that Kevin did not offer the services equally between old lady and the woman. We can see
Kevin give extra attention to the woman compare the old lady. Then, with this unethical
behavior toward to the customer, it will ruin the image of the company. It is important to the
company because the customer will judge the company from employees. So in this case, the
manager or director should play the role seriously with discipline to the employees to make
the company success. But sometimes, the employees follow by example. If the manager show
the ethical and good behavior to the customer, the employee will follow by their lead. As
managers show unethical behavior, and perhaps even justify such behavior while knowing it
can be wrong, this eventually becomes a part of organizational culture. Then, the employees
will follow that attitude and the lack of moral judgement will spread.

Next, another needs of business ethics from this movies is make the healthy
competition with the competitors in business. In this movie, we can see when they make
computer challenge, Graham did something to the Billy’s computer, so Billy’s data did not
save and he get zero from that challenge. It is wrong to defeat the competitors with cheating.
The companies must have healthy competition with the competitors. They must not do cut-
throat competition. In business, everyone want to achieve profit higher and faster and expect
immediate result. That why business ethic is important in dealing today’s business and make
the progress in making profit in the right way. It is not ethical to do something that can bring
down the other companies. Healthy competition is also one of the strategies to make
successful. The companies can make it as a challenge and motivation in order to make the
companies more successful and can give higher profit than the other companies.

Then, the other needs of business ethics is to get the customer satisfaction toward to
company. It is an important key that lead the company to be successful. A business should
have a positive influence on its immediate surroundings and the people that live in the
community by creating jobs and playing a significant role in the economic and social welfare
of the community. Businesses with integrity and high ethical standards establish long lasting
relationships with the customers they deal with. Many business make the mistake of putting
profit before customer satisfaction, while they might get away with it initially and appear
successful, in the long run, the business is bound to fail as no customer wants to feel short-
changed. It is important that a degree of transparency in all dealings be present and ambiguity
be eliminated. For example, in this movie, Billy, Nick and the other team member keep
persuade the owner of pizza shop to make the changes with providing them the useful
information until they satisfy and agreeing to make the changes.

2. 2) Recognize any characteristics of the Google company as an ETHICAL
ORGANIZATIONS

One of the ethical organizations in the Google is transparency. The organisation should
disclose information in a manner that enables stakeholders to make a meaningful analysis
of the organisation’s actions. Great organizations are consist of leader who will treat their
employee with fairness, justify and consistent with the action taken. For example,
Google’s executive chairman share with all Googlers practically the same material that
Google shared with their Board of Directors at their most recent meeting (D'ONFRO,
JILLIAN, 2015). The material includes launch plans and product roadmaps in addition to
team and employee so that all Googlers are aware of what fellow Googlers are working
on.

Furthermore, other characteristics of the Google company as an ethical organization is

sharing company wealth. Sharing company wealth is empowering others who helped the
company become successful or whom the company is benefiting from in the business
society. For example, Google give a lot of benefit to its employee such as free lunch,
gyms, great facilities, free ride and free health care (PECK, 2015).

Trust is also one of characteristic ethical organization in the Google. Trusting and
believing in the employees making them feel worth it in the company. Without trust in the
organization, employee will feel down and do not working in passion. For example,
Google provide free food for their employee but they are not allowed to bring it home. It
is proves that Google believe their employee will follow the rules.

Moreover, the other characteristic is integrity. Integrity is about treats its employees fairly,
communicating with them honestly and openly. For example, Google always treated their
employees fairly which is get same benefit and same rules.

Lastly, characteristic of ethical organization is risk taking. Great companies innovate, they
think out of box and try new thing. Organizations that thrive, prosper and grow do so by

3
taking risks. For example, Google always presenting new innovation and create new idea
such as android, android apps and android tv.

3. Acknowledge how important TRUST in team work.

A team without trust isn't really a team. It's just a group of individuals, working together,
often making disappointing progress. They may not share information, they might battle over
rights and responsibilities, and they may not cooperate with one another. It doesn't matter how
capable or talented your people are, they may never reach their full potential if trust isn't
present.
However, when trust is in place, each individual in the team becomes stronger, because he
or she is part of an effective, cohesive group. When people trust one another, the group can
achieve truly meaningful goals. One definition describes trust as a "reliance on the character,
ability, strength, or truth of someone or something." Think about that definition for a moment.
Trust means that you rely on someone else to do the right thing. Believe in the person's
integrity and strength, to the extent that are able to put self on the line, at some risk to
ourselves.
Trust is essential to an effective team, because it provides a sense of safety. When your
team members feel safe with each other, they feel comfortable to open up, take appropriate
risks, and expose vulnerabilities. Without trust there's less innovation, collaboration, creative
thinking, and productivity, and people spend their time protecting themselves and their
interests. This is time that should be spent helping the group attain its goals.
Based on movie “The Internship”, we can see that the main team consisting of Billy, Nick,
Stuart, Lyle, Yo-Yo and Neha. What is the most different things that we can see among them
is their age. They are forming from different age and background. But this is not an obstacle
to them to work as a group. What is more important is trust. They trust each other and that
makes their team are always strong. They work as a team, trust in each other and do they task
together. That’s how teamwork do. Working together in completing the mission and always
trust each other.

4. Identify any ETHICAL DILEMMAS at the workplace

Each person has his or her own unique moral imperatives and personal ethics which
compel him or her to act in a particular unique way. A dilemma arises when there is a conflict
between these individual opinions. Therefore, an ethical dilemma may occur either within the
person or between two or more people. Based on ‘Internship’ movie, it is has many an ethical
dilemma that are involve.
Taking home the company asset .Company asset are meant for venture, and not privy
use. We all have a stability to support and preserve enterprise capital from loss, robbery,
mistreat and consume. These capitals incorporate, but are not limited. You should use
company assets and funds for legitimate and authorized business purposes. In general terms
an asset is an item that is purchased for prolonged use by the company. From this movie Billy
has taken the food from the office to his home.
Pressure from leader. How a leader deals with influence will tell you much through
who they are as everyone. Their pressure to force will disclose the strength of their
personality and feeling, what and whom they meaning, and surely they perhaps credible. The
matter is most public crumple under constraint. Only special work constraints well and even
fewer occupy the qualities impending able to shine on tension. Therefore, an ethical dilemma
can arise when people feel pressured to do immoral things to please their bosses or when they
feel that they cannot point out their co-workers or superiors bad behavior. For example from
the movie is Graham as a leader in his team, force the team to do unethical acts to win on
challenge.
Taking credits for others’ work. In this movie, if only three out of five of the team
members did all the works, do those of the three members will get the proper credits while the
other two of members in team do not pull their effort? This is what happens in Lyle’s
teamwork. Billy and Nick do not give any cooperation in the team since they did not know
anything about the task. This can foment the resentment among the team members because all
the members will get the equal praise even though only a few did a real work. But this ethical
dilemma only happens in the beginning of the tasks.

The code of ethics. A social code that identifies principles and ways of thing and
behaving that concur and identical with the object and effect of curing and occupying upon
proper precepts and experienced act instinctive to curative. A code of practice is an instruct of

6
principles designed to help experienced attend store fairly and with soundness. A code of
value archive may lay out the assignment and integrity of the organization or industry, how
experienced are purported to method problems, the honorable principles situated on the
company's core beliefs and the standards in which the qualified is held. The ethical dilemma
shown in this movie is Dana in dilemma to date with co-worker since it against the code of
ethics.
Whether to share knowledge or not. It is an activity through which information, skills,
expertise is exchanged between people, friends, and organization. Knowledge dividing plays a
very basic role in creating understanding by all of land in a company. If conditions are
accordingly common, employees pick up nearby condition likely elsewhere them and they can
thus start a manual scrutinize the opportunity of assets, its pros and cons and try to earn beat
results for the society again clients and themselves. While the activity of sharing takes place
people tend to get more comfortable while dealing with each other hence increasing the co-
ordination and efficiency of work
