 Veiled landscapes

In her production, Eliane Gallo investigates a theme relevant to the history of art: the
landscape. Consecrated by the Dutch painters in the sixteenth century, this subject has
undergone numerous transformations and it is from this context of renewal of the
landscape that the artist conceives his paintings and sculpture.
Entitled "Veiled Landscapes", the exhibition, which opens on November 11, brought
together works produced between 2016 and 2017. In the works it is possible to identify
figurative elements that are superimposed by several layers of beeswax, in a kind of
"veladura" as the artist defines it: "encaustic painting is a millenarian technique that brings
together beeswax, pigments and fire, enabling several unfolding of senses. In her works,
there are several landscapes within one. They are hidden landscapes that are revealed
little by little challenging the look of the observer.
