    An atheist is swimming in the ocean on a holiday when he sees a shark heading towards him. In a panic, he calls out to God for help. When God questions why he is calling upon him since he does not believe, the atheist begs God to make the shark believe instead. God agrees and when time resumes, just as the shark is about to attack the man, it stops, bows its head and says a prayer thanking God for the food it is about to receive.

    THE ATHEIST AND THE SHARK

    It is a holiday and an atheist happens to be swimming in the ocean. All of a sudden, he sees this shark in
    the water heading towards him. The shark scares him to death so he starts swimming to his boat.

    ATHIEST: “Oh. God! Are you there? Save me!”

    In an instant, time is frozen, and a bright light shines down from above.

    GOD: “You are an atheist. Why do you call upon me when you do not believe in me?”

    ATHIEST: ( begs God) “Well, that’s true, I don’t believe in you; but how about the shark? Can you make
    the shark believe in you?”

    GOD: “Okay, then. As you wish.”

    The light retreats back into the heavens and the man can feel the water moving again. As the atheist
    looks back, he can see the jaws of the shark start to close down on him, when all of a sudden the shark
    stops, pulls back, closes its eyes, bows its head, and says:

    SHARK: “Thank you, Lord, for this food for which I am about to receive. . . .”
