MINERALOGY : SCIENCE , ENTREPRENEURSHIP , HOBBY AND KIDS

In the previous issue of ORYKTOLOGIKA NEA-NEWS ON MINERALS September-October 2017, Vol. 32, Issue
191, pp. 26-37), Geologist Ms Alexandra Gogou had written an article entitled " MINERALOGY AND CHILDREN:
APPROACH THROUGH …THE GAME” . On the occasion of this article and the 31-year of GeMin Exhibition in
Greece , we want to mention that in the past from this position we have supported that topics covered by
GeMin Exhibition have many scientific and professional extensions . In addition to the scientific and
professional implications of dealing with minerals, fossils and gemstones , there is also the Social extension :
It is beautiful to teach children about Geosciences, but it is equally beautiful to teach and Humility. Children
who were 5 and 6 years old and had visited the first GeMin Exhibition back in 1987 with their Parents ,
today they are 35 and 36 years old and some of these children who liked the subject from an early age and
combined knowledge and modesty , have evolved and today they offer significant knowledge in geosciences
from various positions, while others have evolved into entrepreneurs on the subject.
For several years, several parents have been urged to succumb to their children's "wills", praise them
generously, even if they have not done something worthwhile and do not try to correct or educate them.
Many children who grew up constantly listening to praise , were not prepared for disappointments, criticism
and occasional failures. Because they are taught to focus on their own wishes, when they become old , they
have difficulty to be adaptable and create lasting relationships. As a result, many suffer from anxiety and
depression. Children do not develop real self-esteem when they are constantly told that they are separate but
when they really do. To do this, it is not enough just to believe in themselves. They need to acquire specific
skills, which they must exercise and improve with care.
They also need to care for the needs of others, and they require humility, which helps the child not to
become infected by the egoism that prevails in today's world. We, as a GeMin and ORYKTOLOGIKA NEA - NEWS
ON MINERALS, have been supporting and assisting children of all ages (!!) for 32 years who like this hobby and
direct them - within our capabilities - to open their wings, develop initiatives in full freedom. Exhibits are
accessible to children and we show them how they can combine knowledge with entrepreneurship. That is,
we show and give them the direction by creating motivation and all the conditions in a civilized environment.
From this point onwards, Parents and Schools must have a greater presence and involvement in the part
attributed to them. Or in other words , it remains to their Parents and their Schools to show a greater interest
and give a boost to the overall effort. We believe that with a small text we send a great message in every
direction and you can rely on our consistency and our long-standing credibility.

/ Obsidian from Armenia /Obsidian from Milos

Island , Aegean Sea , Greece
.
Conchoidal denoting a type of fracture in a solid (such as flint or quartz) that results in a smooth rounded surface
resembling the shape of a scallop shell. Conchoidal fracture describes the way that brittle materials break or
fracture when they do not follow any natural planes of separation. Materials that break in this way include quartz,
flint, quartzite, jasper, and other fine-grained or amorphous materials with a composition of pure silica, such as
obsidian and window glass, as well as a few metals, such as solid gallium.Conchoidal fractures can also occur in other
materials under favorable circumstances. This material property was widely used in the Stone Age to make sharp
tools, and minerals that fractured in this fashion were widely traded as a desirable raw material.Conchoidal
fractures often result in a curved breakage surface that resembles the rippling, gradual curves of a mussel shell; the
word "conchoid" is derived from the word for this animal (Greek konche = ). A swelling appears at the point of
impact called the bulb of percussion. Shock waves emanating outwards from this point leave their mark on the stone
as ripples. Other conchoidal features include small fissures emanating from the bulb of percussion. They are defined
in contrast to the faceted fractures often seen in single crystals such as semiconductor wafers and gemstones, and
the high-energy ductile fracture surfaces desirable in most structural applications.

Day 2 October 2nd 2017: Kimolos island
Kimolos belongs to the island complex of Milos, which is located in the central part of the active
volcanic arc of the Southern Aegean (Fytyikas et al., 1984). It occupies and area of 36 km2 and consists
almost exclusively of volcanic rocks. Due to the extensive volcanic activity that occurred in the wider
Milos-Kimolos-Polyaigos area since the Pliocene, tuffs and lava domes are the predominant deposits on
the island. Some important industrial minerals, such as white bentonite- greenish/white zeolite tuff are
being exploited by the BENTOMINE S.A. at the north part of the island [Stavros Roussos quarry]. Other
industrial minerals that can be seen in Kimolos are perlite, colored bentonite, and pumice. Thin beds of
diatomite and barite veins also occur.

Day 3 October 3rd 2017 : Milos Island : Zephyria- Kastriani (geothermal field, kaolin, alunite, silica sand,
sulphur)
Moving to the central part of the island of Milos, at the site of Kastriani, several abandoned and active
kaolin and white silica sand quarries were visited. In the main kaolin quarry of Kastriani that was a
property of S&B Industrial Minerals is currently used for dumping of perlite fines. Kaolin deposits in Milos
are generally poor for high quality ceramics, as they contain relatively high percentage of silica
polymorphs, sulphur and/or iron. Interestingly, some kaolin/silica deposits in the neighborhood area of
Kastriani (Filis and Roussos quarries) are richer in silica and poor in kaolin and therefore they used for a
long as source of silica in the production of clinker in the cement industry.

Xylokeratia area, which is located at the SW edge of Milos Island, hosts two major quarries of Pozzolana
cement additive (450 acres) belonging to “Interbeton” and “LAVA”. The exploitations of the pozzolanic
material of Milos Island began after the closure of the quarries of Santorini Island.
In general, Pozzolana is mostly a naturally occurring raw material of volcanic origin [tuffs] or biogenic
origin [biogenic amorphous silica] which, in themselves, possess little or no cementitious value but which
will, in finely divided form and in the presence of water, react chemically with calcium hydroxide at
ordinary temperature to form compounds possessing cementitious properties. The quantification of the
capacity of a pozzolana to react with calcium hydroxide and water is given by measuring its pozzolanic
activity

In the southwest part of Milos, zeolite tuffs occur in the site of Kipoi-Provatas, covered by andesitic
lavas. Zeolites are found in 2 forms, fibrous (mordenite) and tabular (clinoptilolite). In Milos, zeolites
mainly occur on this site due to diagenesis in alkaline conditions for a long time. There is no exploitation
of the material yet. It is also interesting to note down that manganese deposits that are associated with
shallow marine carbonate rocks that contain series of bivalves of Pliocene occur close to that area.
The main uses of the zeolite are:
• In feed (5%), because it absorbs toxins
• As a material for the car caltalytic converter
• In stables for the release of ammonia
• As building material for insulation
• In cement because it offers Si, Al

Day 4 October 4th 2017: Trahilas (Perlite), Phylakopi and Sarakiniko (Diatomite), Voudia and Aggeria
(Bentonite)

In Trachilas location (North Milos) exist important perlite quarries belonging to IMERYS S.A. This deposit
has an exceptional quality worldwide, as its mass has been more hydrated and, in a sudden heating at
temperatures 700 C-800 C is easier to expand. Iron content reaches 0.1%.Anoter perlite quarry occurs
in the southern part of the island at Fyriplaka.
The main uses of expanded perlite are:
• In agriculture, as soil additive, in order to retain moisture and soil limpness
• As filter
• As insulation material
• As intermediate filter for liquid- solid separation in beer, wine, sugar, water and oil industries, as
well as pharmaceuticals
Phylakopi and Sarakiniko are mainly consisted of diatomites (aka diatomaceous earth) (aka= fossil shell
flour )and pumice tuff, whose bright white color is responsible of the beauty of the famous so-named
beach. They have numerous uses, such as filter aids, functional additives, absorbents, soil amendments
and natural insecticides; however they are not considered a deposit, so they are not being exploited.

In Aggeria site, NE Milos Island, it is located the most significant bentonite quarry in Europe. It is
noteworthy to mention that Greece is the world’s second larger bentonite producer after the USA, with
the overwhelming majority of its production originating on Milos Island. Bentonite is a smectite group
minerals - rich rock and originates from volcanic tuffs alteration in alkaline environment. Bentonite
applications are listed below:
• In foundry industry, as binding material in molds
• In deep oil drilling, as lubricant material
• As an insulating material
• As animals litter absorbents (bentonite with 9% moisture)
• In animal feeds
• In iron ore pelletizing- Fe metallurgy on blast furnace

Day 5 October 5th 2017: “Nychia” site (obsidian), Milos Mining Museum
On the last day of our educational trip in Milos, we visited the Nychia site near Adamantas, in order to
examine obsidian samples. This rock formation was used for tools and weapons production in antiquity
due to its conchoidal fracture and its sufficient hardness. Fossils of bivalves were also digged out.

Milos is a very interesting island. For any visitor with geological interest, other sites worth seeing are the
Sulphur Mines, the columnar jointing lavas in Kalogeros and the Palaiochori beach, with underwater
escape of hydrothermal fluids.
The workshop was sponsored by the following companies - organizations: Municipality of Milos, Aegean
Recycling, Blue Star Ferries, and the companies that are activated in extraction, processing and
distribution of raw materials: DUROSTICK, IMERYS, MAPEI, SAINT-GOBAIN, and TITAN.
Our Team is organizing the next conference to be held in Zakynthos Island, Katakolo and Aitoliko
(western Greece), in late May 2018, based again on sponsorships from the Private Sector (banks and
companies of mineral extraction, processing and distribution of raw materials). For any sponsorship you
may contact the Member of the Organizing Committee Ms. Alexandra Gogou [ alevantes@gmail.com ]

ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS
-Lavrion (Lavreotiki) is one of the Earth's best "Laboratories" of Mineralogy. Its history is lost in Antiquity and there
are thousands of collectors and numerous Museums that have samples from Lavrion. New minerals are being added
to the known list of mineral species from Lavrion. The idea is to upload beautiful images of Lavrion minerals to the
site of IACLM in facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/115645832341118/ ,and after gathering the so-called
Lavrion mineralogical species, we believe that it can be proposed to an International Publishing House, for example.
Elsevier, Springer-Verlag GmbH, etc. to fund and publish a monumental scientific work in Mineralogy: The illustrated
ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS which will surely become a best-seller worldwide. This project will also include the
names of all collectors, museums, educational institutes, organizations etc. that will contribute with excellent
quality photographs from their collection to the site of the International Association of Collectors of Minerals of
Lavrio. With this thinking you can continue to upload mineral photos of Lavrion specimens with exact description
and dimensions. So everyone can follow the path of the first of the two projects we have announced. The dream will
come true if everyone helps.

The magical world of minerals and their uses
Panagiotis Vergoulis
Mining and metallurgical engineer, MSc Environment and development,
National Technical University of Athens (bergmet@yahoo.com )
Rock collecting is a very popular pastime since the colorful minerals contained in them often create images of
extreme beauty. Which one is more beautiful? The deep green color of malachite, the blue color of azurite, the
purple shades of amethyst, the clear green tone of fluorite, the pale pink color of quartz or the impressive metallic
silver of the galena (fluorite and quartz are found in other colors, too)?
It is worth noting that a mineral is a chemical compound or element that has formed as a result of a geological
process and usually has a particular crystal structure, while a rock is a morphologically independent structural unit
of the Earth's crust with a defined mineral composition. The rock is therefore constituted by one or more minerals.
The love of the people, especially of the younger ones, for minerals is widely known. Besides, I can see it every day in
the classrooms where I teach seminars for rock collectors and people who just want to learn more about the magical
world of minerals (more information on bergmet@yahoo.com – potential of online teaching in Greek with English
subtitles). How many times have we seen a rock on the beach, on a mountain or on a trip to Greece (or abroad) and
wondered what exactly it contains, how it was created and what hidden story it could tell us? In the classrooms I am
constantly trying to answer such questions, as well as others about the various uses of each rock in our everyday life.
Let us examine three of the most important rocks found and mined in Greece: bauxite, pumice and bentonite.
Bauxite is mainly found in the area of Parnassus and Giona, as well as in Elefsina, Heliconas, Evia and Amorgos. It
is currently used mainly for the production of alumina (Al2O3) and aluminum, as well as refractory materials,
cement, filtering grounds, etc.
Pumice, as a volcanic rock, is found in large quantities on Yali, a tiny island close to Nisyros, where it is mined until
today. The rock can also be found in Milos and Kos.
Bentonite can be found in Milos, where surface mining is carried out systematically, and in Samos. Its number of
uses is impressive, as it is used as a lubricant in oil extraction drilling, in mineral oil cleaning, cosmetics, ceramics,
pesticides, plastic materials, pet sand and many more.
Finally, a typical example of the dependence of our everyday lives on minerals and rocks is the car. We all use it to
go to work or anywhere else we want, but few of us realize that galena is essential in the battery, bentonite in the
engine, bauxite (aluminum in particular, which is a product of bauxite processing) on the rims and the engine, as
well as quartz in the windows.

Its name comes from the Greek word « » (kyanos) due to its blue color. It is also called disthene , again
from the Greek words « » , i.e. two strengths , due to the different hardness of the perpendicular
axes of each blade ( 4-7,5 in Mohs scale).
Host rocks are pergmatites , metamorphic rocks and placers. Gemmy kyantites or disthene are found in
Punjab Kashmir in India, in the gem-bearing gravels of Burma and in Korea (Saikori area). In USA kyanite
or disthene is found in California ,Tennessee,Georgia , New Hamphshire and North Carolina (green kyanites).
Nice crystals were found in Greenland ,while large crystals up to 30 cms have been found in Australia (Harts
Range Region) and Brazil. African kyanites were found in Kenya , Tanzania (emerald green crystals) from
Umba river region and Namibia (green-blue crystals). Other known localities are in Helvetia (Ticcino area)
,Austria and France. Its color is caused by trace amounts of Fe+2 ,Cr+3 ,Ti+3 (green and blue) and Fe +3
(green).Orange kyanite is reported from Tanzania .

gefunden.
Afrikanische
Kyanite wurden in Kenia, Tansania (smaragdgrüne Kristalle) aus der Umba River Region und Namibia
(grün-blaue Kristalle) gefunden. Weitere bekannte Orte sind in Helvetia (Ticcino-Gebiet), Österreich und

"The Dream of a Canal" Southeast Europeans are planning mega-project

In ORYKTOLOGIKA NEA-NEWS ON MINERALS we publish articles on minerals, gemstones , fossils and

much other information that is of interest to collectors in Greece and other countries where this magazine goes. But
it would be an omission on our side not to mention a few words about a major project which will involve at least
one generation of geoscientists from the original planning to its implementation: the Danube River's connection to
the Aegean Sea in Southeastern Europe. Let us remember that from the time of Charilaos Trikoupis, when the
connection between Rio and Antirio in Peloponessos , Greece had been proposed until the construction of the
bridge, more than 100 years passed when it was given to the traffic. We have read in cyber site of https://www.n-
tv.de/ information on this project and we cite this information here.
«An ambitious construction project is inspiring politicians in the Balkans: Greeks, F.Y.R.O.M and Serbs want
to dig a canal that connects the Danube with the Mediterranean. The visionary project could change the entire
region forever.
It is an infrastructure project of historic proportions: Greece, F.Y.R.O.M. and Serbia want to open up a new
shipping route from the Danube to the Aegean via their own sewer system, thereby giving new impetus to the
economy and trade in the region. Greece's second-largest city, Thessaloniki, could particularly benefit from this,
Greek media reported.
One of the endpoints of the canal could be in the immediate vicinity of Thessaloniki, they say. The mayor of the
northern Greek port city, Giannis Boutaris, is correspondingly enthusiastic. "(F.Y.R.O.M.'s) President Djordje
Ivanov has given me a video showing this dream of the canal," Boutaris reportedly said at a meeting of the city
council of Thessaloniki.
Among other things, Boutaris informed the city councilors about the results of his visit to the F.Y.R.O.M. capital
Skopje. Greece and F.Y.R.O.M. share a 200-kilometer long land border. However, there has been a dispute
between the two neighboring countries for years. The former Yugoslav Republic claims the name for itself, which
the Greek side strongly rejects with regard to the historical roots of the region of Macedonia.

Cross-border major project

Boutaris' visit to Skopje is seen by many observers as a sign of rapprochement. A joint construction project of the
size of an Aegean-Danube Canal would actually bind the states of the region closer together. The plan finds
supporters in Greek politics at the highest level: as early as last February, the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras
had described the plans as a project that could "change the geography of the Balkans".
However, it is still unclear how exactly the mammoth construction project should be financed. Government
circles in Athens said it last, the implementation of the gigantic channel plans could cost estimated at around 17
billion euros. If investors can be found, this information would be possible within six years. Chinese companies have
already shown interest, it says.

New Artery of Inland Navigation

The new waterway is to connect the Danube via its tributary Morava (also: Great Morava) with the river Vardar /
Axios, which flows west of Thessaloniki in the Aegean Sea. In the region, however, larger terrain levels are
overcome. The construction of locks, canal crossings or even canal bridges should make the project more expensive.
The northern channel entrance is expected to be located at the Morava Estuary about 50 kilometers downstream of
Belgrade. From there to the delta of the Axios in Thessaloniki it is about 480 kilometers as the crow flies.
On the route along the two river systems, the canal route would have to follow the course of narrow mountain
valleys in order to avoid several central mountain ranges. This should extend the overall length significantly. If it
actually comes to canal construction, it would be one of the longest artificially created waterways in Europe.
The advantages are obvious: F.Y.R.O.M. would be connected to the European sewer system through the canal.
Freight could then glide by barge from the North Sea ports at the mouth of the Rhine across the continent to the
Mediterranean - without having to take the detour via the Black Sea. Inland ports in Serbia, F.Y.R.O.M. and
northern Greece could boost the regional economy.
Bigger, more expensive and longer than the RMD channel ( Rhine-Main-Danube Kanal = RMD-Kanal)
However, the prospective route is not the only challenge: In its course from the Danube to the Mediterranean, the
engineers would have to plan significant height differences. In Belgrade, for example, the Danube flows at a level of
almost 130 meters above sea level. The F.Y.R.O.M. capital Skopje, on the other hand, which is about half way up
the Vardar's headwaters, is already around 240 meters above sea level.
How realistic the project is is still unclear. Canal projects are associated with significant interventions in local
planning procedures. Even the preliminary work can take years. In addition, there are the foreseeable effects on
nature and the environment along the route - not to mention delays that could result from any complaints from
residents. How long it can take for the first inland waterway vessels to take a look at Germany.

Work on the construction of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal (RMD-Kanal) was started in 1960. Just over 30 years
later, the approximately 170 kilometers long and around 4.7 billion D-Mark expensive connection of the Rhine-
Main system to the Danube was released for traffic.»

Thessaloniki, Giannis Boutaris.

The Stone as a Healer

Permanthea Teloniatou
Email: permanthea@gmail.com
The minerals existed and were already formed when humans evolved from the Archaic Homo sapiens 200.000
years ago.
In his evolutionary process, the man learned to use increasingly complex tools to increase the ability of his
hands but also to perform tasks where simple muscle strength was not enough. So he began with tools made of
stones found in his environment (Stone Age), he constructed tools of obsidian for cutting, obsidian and jasper
arrows, and vessels for transport from granites and other strong rocks. Later, the use of stone tools was
followed by the development of metallurgy and the use of copper and iron tools.
Well , the man came in contact with the stone and the metals, he felt their power, entrusted them and worked
with them.
Stones have always played a major role in people's lives over the centuries. In antiquity people used stones
for their everyday life and used them not only to decorate their homes or temples, but also as treatments.
They noticed the beneficial properties of the various crystals on them so they made medicines with them or
simply they had them next to them for treatment.
This goes on until our days with a pause in the Middle Ages, where natural stuff was considered to be
forbidden since the church wanted to have the primary role in the healing in order to be able to control
completely the people.
These very difficult times for the human kind, people were so much filled with fear that the love for stones
changed. This fear prevented people of using the stones and now stones and the other natural stuff were
written in man’s subconscious as something dangerous and sometimes evil. Fortunately this slowly has
changed, and nowadays we see the man turning again to stones not only for their beauty but also for their
healing properties.
So let's see how our ancestors were using the minerals.
Hematite: Pieces of ematite were engraved in Egyptian and Babylonian graves. The Romans considered
ematite as the main stone of God Mars, and the soldiers believed that if they wore this stone on their bodies,
they would become invulnerable during the battle.
Jasper: It is considered the father of the stones. Rings from Jasper are located in Herculaneum and Pompeii
under the ashes of the volcano Vesuvius that destroyed both cities. North Native Americans were using it to
cause rain.
Kallaite : In the mummy of Egyptian Queen Zaire archaeologists found four kallaite bracelets. The ancients
believed that Kallaite is the sacred stone that helps the union of Earth with the planet Uranus.
Gypsum: Gypsum is a popular and precious mineral since the antiquity. In Egypt it was cut in oval shape and
the jewels made by it were called "Pharaoh's Eggs". They believed it had the ability to provide protection and
good luck.
Tiger’s eye and the Cat's Eye: In India, they believed that the Tiger’s Eye and Cat’s Eye have the power to
control the inferior demons in nature. (They were known as brown chalcedony).
Chalcedony: he ancients believed that it could bring a lot of milk to nursing mothers. It was also named
"Petra latte" , the milk stone.
Fluorite: Gaius Plinius reported that Gaius Octavius brought to Rome an expensive Fluorite jar from
Alexandria. Pompios Magnus donated six jars of Fluorite to the Temple of Zeus in Rome, which were removed
from the treasure of Mithridates VI.
Chrysocolla: This mineral was first reported by Theophrastus (372-287 BC)
Ruby: It was used in the palaces and temples of the Ancient Greece and Egypt. In the Middle Ages people
believed that it has magical powers.
Azurite: During the Renaissance, the painters used crushed Azurite for their blue color in their paintings. In
ancient Egypt, it was used by priests to lift consciousness into a divine state.
Sapphire: The ancient Persians believed that the Earth rests on a giant Sapphire whose reflection creates the
blue sky. During the Middle Ages people believed that it can protect against smallpox, ulcers and eye diseases.
It was also used to protect against the evil eye, envy and also to attract divine favor.
Lapis Lazuli : An old Jewish tradition tells us that the 10 Mandates were engraved on Lapis plates. During the
Middle Ages the Holy Banks of the churches were covered by this stone.
Rose Quartz: Since ancient times people used it as a symbol of pure love.
Quartz: Rich Romans were holding Quartz balls for cooling in the summer, since the Quartz can absorb heat.
In the Middle Ages it was confused with the Diamond. Orpheus was speaking for it as the stone of God that
can light up the holly fire.
The Lemurians and the Atlantians had Scepters and Amethysts as symbols of power.
ORYKTOLOGIKA NEA-NEWS ON MINERALS -52- Vol 32- No 192 - 2017
In ancient Greece, Orpheus in his book Lithika talks about the healing and magic qualities of the stones.
This book was translated by bishop Marbodus Redonensis around 1100 and exerted a great influence in the
Middle Ages. He writes, for example, about Quartz that if someone ties it around a patient's kidneys he will be
saved .
Theophrastus the ancient Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and Aristotle, was born in Eressos of Lesvos
Island, and wrote many books including "About Stones" (=”Peri Lithon”). The book was written in the 4th
century BC and is the oldest book in Mineralogy where the known , at that time, minerals are systematically
described. In his book "About Stones" he developed the knowledge of the Time around the minerals, rocks and
gems and their usefulness. He writes, for example, that Emerald is very good for those with eye problems.
Alchemists later experimented by mixing or heating elements that caused violent reactions, such as
Phosphorus and Mercury, to create the "philosophic stone" that could turn Lead or Tin into Gold or give
eternal life.
Alchemist Paracelsus provided Mercury as a medicine to treat syphilis. Although Mercury could cause
tooth decay and an extremely unpleasant breath, it treated the rashes, so doctors used it for many years to
treat syphilis but also other diseases that caused rashes.
Kings and High Priests wore and wear precious gems as symbols of power and wisdom.
Everything around us is made of crystals, and crystals are much older than humans.
The human body is made of many crystalline structures that are fundamental to the functioning of our
organism. Our skeleton consists of Calcium Phosphate crystals. Our bones are formed by millions of tiny
crystals (nanocrystals) of a mineral called Hydroxylapatite.
We maintain our balance thanks to Calcite or Aragonite crystals found in the inner ear. These crystals can
be moved according to the gravity field orientation. Our teeth are made of Apatite micro crystals. The human
brain pineal gland consists of small crystals distinguished by the Hydroxylapatite formulations.
Cubic, hexagonal and cylindrical morphologies have been identified and energy spectroscopy showed that the
crystals contain Calcium, Carbon and Oxygen elements.
Each crystal vibrates at a certain frequency when an electrical current passes through it.
A clock uses the vibration of a Quartz crystal to measure time. When electricity passes through a crystal, the
crystal will vibrate at 60 hertz (60 times per second).
Man is therefore inextricably linked to the crystals and his relationship with them is equal. The crystal can
affect the person when it comes in contact with him and the person can also affect the crystal respectively.
The man, the crystal, and everything on the Earth, according to its frequency of pulsation, create around it an
electromagnetic field called the aura. The aura of the crystal affects the aura of man and vice versa. So we see
the man relaxing with a Rose Quartz crystal and we also see crystals or metals changing color when they come
in contact with the human body.
So when we accept the truth that the aura exists, then we can immediately see how much man is affected by
everything around him and how he affects everything.
Aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds all bodies, inanimate and animated.
Robert Bruce, a contemporary Australian writer, had investigated the aura. Glenn Morris, Head of a
martial art called Hoshin Roshi Ryu, includes in the education the perception of aura for advanced stages.
In 1911 Dr. Walter John Keller, an electrotherapy officer at St. Thomas Hospital in London, published a
medical study titled “Human Atmosphere”, which addressed the existence and nature of the aura and its
possible use in medicine for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases.
The Semion and Valentina Kirlian a pair from Kazakhstan in 1930, studying the laboratory applications of
the Tesla induction coil, recorded on film the visible and invisible luminescence that were emitted by the
bodies under the influence of an alternating electromagnetic field of high voltage and frequency.
It is worth noting that the emotional and mental state of a person can change the image of the depicted
energy field in the photographs of Kirlian.
Emotions and thoughts cause unconscious muscular movements and affect temperature, humidity and other
bodily functions.
Even inanimate objects, such as a box, produce images of aura in Kirlian's photography. In an experiment
that was done while parts of a sheet were cut off, the cut-away areas still appeared in Kirlian's picture.
The aura is now scientifically accepted and there is no room for doubt.
So everything is vibrated and everything has aura and interacts. So, we understand how much everything is
affected when we come into contact with, and in this case with the crystals.
Crystal therapy is a natural healing method based on minerals and crystals and also on the universal
energy that is grounded on humans through them.
Minerals and crystals are themselves sources of light, vibration and energy.
Everything that surrounds us, the nature and its elements, the buildings, every object small or large, is
throbbing and emitting its own energy.
Crystals taking the universal energy and enriching it with its own vibrations, they direct it to the human
breeze, bringing slowly the cleansing of the point they touch, the relaxation and finally the healing.
ORYKTOLOGIKA NEA-NEWS ON MINERALS -53- Vol 32- No 192 - 2017
At the same time, they get from humans through their aura toxins and other unnecessary things and they
clean them with their own vibrations. The anions of the crystal attract the toxins and force them to leave. So
by making crystal therapy someone is releasing himself at least from his toxins.
Depending on the mineral’s chemical composition, elements are released which the body may need and thus
we have a healing intervention of the mineral in our physical body.
The energy passes through the structure of the mineral, gets information from what has been imprinted in its
aura and always with healing intention, it works to the place we have placed it.
Our thoughts and feelings can affect our bodies or the crystals of our body in a good or in a not so good
way. For example, our uric acid can be crystallized because of the way we live and this crystallization results in
rheumatic disease. We have endless positive and negative possibilities on what we can do.
The strong energy of the stones unlocks our energy centers and balances the aura, thus helping to prevent
diseases. Using the stones above us is not something strange to us but something that our body knows, since the
human body is made of minerals as well.
We are crystalline and that's why crystals can help us in the best and quickest way.
Crystal therapy does not replace or abolish any other medical treatment and it is advisable not to ignore
any medical advice.
Having now some crystals in our space we succeed to change all the energy of space. The space becomes
appropriate, healthy and balanced for people living or working there.
Everything, each and every one of us creates an atmosphere that, without realizing it, plays a crucial role in
our lives.
The stone will act as a filter to absorb any negative in the atmosphere. Minerals push positive vibration into
our lives and spaces. Their vibrations transmit the energies in the field, which can cause problems for those
who live or work there. Many times, professional difficulties can be due to blocked actions that exist in the
space.
Mineral as a source of light, vibration and energy will maintain the purity and the continuous flow of vital
energy in space. This vital energy is none other than the Chinese call Ki or Chi or the Orgone of Wilhelm
Reich or the Universal Energy as the homeopathic doctors as Giorgos Vithoulkas and Spyros Diamantidis call
it. It is the same energy as the Ether for the Ancient Greeks, Prana for the Hindu and psychotronic energy for
Czech.
The Universal Energy penetrates everywhere. There is everywhere even if we can’t see it.
Trust the energy of a crystal for a better and more beautiful life!
