Scene 1

narrator: Montresor narrate the reason why he wants revenge.


Fortunato and I are friends when we are younger we both played with each other , but we also have our
differences Fortunato on the other hand was bigger, richer and more handsome than I was one of the
most thing that Fortunato do is to make me look like a fool while we are playing with our friends and in
that way Fortunato hurt my feeling a thousand times during our childhood but instead showing him my
feelings about that I always hide it with a smile so that Fortunato thought we were good friend but also
in that day I promise to take revenge on Fortunato for always making fun of me and making me a fool.
*FLASHBACK

Montresor with Fortunato playing with their friends

Fortunato: Montresor you just always listening to our story don’t you have a story of your own to tell
maybe you just don’t know how to talk anymore ha ha ha…
Montresor: I don’t know what to tell.
Friend 1: maybe Montresor was just not interested on our topic.
friend 2 or maybe he just don’t know how to talk anymore as fortunato says hahaha
Fortunato: no no no don’t say that to our friend Montresor just don’t know nothing that’s way he does
not saying anything.
(Fortunato and his friends laugh at Montresor)

Years past and Fortunato married a rich woman in our town and they had a two sons the people in our
town respected Fortunato and look up to him for he they thought as an excellent man but behind that
Fortunato also have a weak spot I always smile at him since the day that I take my promise of revenge
and that he thought we were still a good friend but beneath my smile there`s a thought of revenge that I
may cause upon him
*FLASHBACK While Montresor is walking on the street and sees his old friend
Lady 1 : Mr. Montresor it`s been nice seeing that until now both you and Fortunato is still a good friend
just like the old days when both of you are just kid playing together.
Montresor: ah yes Fortunato and I are still good friends now the difference is that Fortunato is a married
now.
Lady1: yeah you`re right what a lovely couple an excellent young man and a beautiful rich woman so
perfect for each other no doubt their sons are very bright and handsome.

narrator :Montresor describes what he became.


I on the other hand became an expert of wine and spent my time buying it and storing it in the dark
place of our palace where I was the only one that can visit it, the palace of Montresor was a heritage
that has been past for many generation our family lived in the town for a hundred of years. One of the
places in our palace is a tomb were we buried our dead in that room.
Scene 2 The Carnival
While Montresor walking the street he happen to see Fortunato and his wife Fortunato who was drunk
from drinking too much wine walking home alone from the party.
Fortunato threw his arm around Montresor.

Montresor: My good old friend it is unexpected to see you both here at the middle of the carnival .
(smile)

Fortunato: Oh my friend I am glad to see you here I myself also did not expect to see you her let`s drink
and have some fun to make this carnival. ( Smiles back)

Montresor: Speaking of drinking my friend I have a little problem. ( Still wearing his smile)

Fortunato: oh very sorry to hear that but what was that problem you talking about? (Shocked)

Montresor: I made a stupid action paying the wine man with full price without first tasting the wine that
he was going to deliver I trusted the man when he tells me he had a rare barrel of amontillado but now I
do not know if it is a real barrel of amontillado because of my stupidity.

Fortunato: Montresor! you have a barrel of amontillado is that what I hear how? impossible at this time
of the year? (Shocked)

Montresor: Yes is it right a barrel of amontillado I am afraid the man would sell it to other so I paid the
wine full price how stupid I was.

Fortunato: where is it?

Montresor pretended that he did not hear Fortunato.

Montresor: My friend I am actually looking for our friend Luchesi . He will be able to tell me is the wine
was really a real amontillado or not.

Furtonato: I will tell you once Montresor that our friend Luchesi will not able to tell you if the
amontillado that you have bought is a real one he cannot distinguish amontillado from vinegar.

Montresor: (Smile that His friend stopped him to see Luchesi) But some people say the he is a
good wine judge than you are.

Fortunato: take me to your barrel of amontillado and I myself will tell if that is a real one. (grabbed
Montresor`s arm)
Montresor: But Fortunato it is too late it is not the right time to taste a wine and I place the barrel
underneath the palace where my wine cellar is I believe at this time it is very cold down there and my
wine cellar are damp and drip with waters.

Fortunato: I don’t care Montresor I was the only one in this town that can tell you if your wine man has
cheated on you no one will tell you if the barrel of amontillado is a real one or not no one not even
lucresi.

Montresor: If that`s what you say then let`s go head to my wine cellar.
Scene 3

Narrator: Fortunato and Montresor heads down to the palace of Montresor`s family
all of the servants of Montresor were out enjoying the carnival and Montresor knows that no one will
hear them.

Fortunato: your house my friend is quiet big.

Montresor: No my friend it was just enough for us.

Fortunato: Where is your maids why is that all of your light are turned off? (confused)

Montresor: my maids are out enjoying the carnival, for that reason my good old friend we can do
whatever we want (sarcastically smilling)

Fortunato;oh I almost forget the carnival yes your right they should also enjoy the carnival, and yes
ummm…. you`re right we can drink all night (faking his smile while looking to Montresor)
Scene:
Narrator the two friends went to the wine cellar of montresor.

Fortunato: where are we going my friend I thought the amontillado was in your wine cellar.

Montresor: yes your right but it is my wine cellar beyond that that tomb where the remains of my family
are kept don’t tell me you are afraid of walking through the tombs.
Fortunato: Tombs?

Montresor: If you are afraid we can go upstairs and I will just call Luchesi.

Fortunato : No I am not afraid.

Scene
Montresor: we are here I hid the cask of amontillado here.
(pointing to a smaller room where the wall were solid rocks)
Narrator : Fortunato lifted up his candle and walked toward the small room Montresor grab fortunatos
hand and looked it to the handcuffs that was hanging on the wall it took only a moment that fortunato
cannot fight back because he was surprise.

Fortunato: where is the amontillado (shouting)

Montresor: ah yes the amontillado (grabbing the basket of blocks and cement and starting to fill the
doorway of the small room as Montresor finishes the half of the blocks Fortunato started to shake the
chain and scream but that did not stop, Montresor to finish the wall but before he put the last file of
block Fortunato speak)

Fortunato: well, you have played a good joke on me .

Montresor: we will laugh about it soon over the glass of amontillado.

Montresor finishes the stone and get his revenge over Fortunato
