and Megafinal Qualifier 24th February 2018
Venue: Shurdington Social Centre, Bishop Road, Cheltenham, GL51 4TB

Musketeers Juniors Chess Club is once again hosting the Gloucestershire

Junior Chess Championships. The competition will take place over 7

not a knockout competition. Children will be divided into sections from

according to the child’s age on 31 August 2017. Some sections may be
combined on the day dependent on numbers. Chess clocks will be used in
some sections.

The competition is also a qualifying tournament for the 2018 Delancey

UK Schools’ Chess Challenge. Junior school children winning their sections or scoring the requisite
number of points will win an invitation to the Gloucestershire Chess Megafinal which will be held on
Saturday 12 May 2018, at the King’s School, Gloucester. For more information see

ceremony will be at around 1630 but check on the day. There will be a variety of prizes rewarding
individuals’ success including badges, mascots, certificates and trophies plus Megafinal invitations
for the junior section winners. Furthermore all age section winners will be awarded the title of
Gloucestershire Junior Chess Champion for their age group (provided that they have been born, are
