TOPIC: The Color Orange- Its Meanings and Roles in Society

GENERAL PURPOSE: To Inform

SPECIFIC PURPOSE: My purpose is to inform the audience about the color orange, and to
allow them to think deeply on its roles in our society.

THESIS/PREVIEW: Orange is a color that radiates optimism and happiness, but is often
overlooked because of other colors.

INTRODUCTION:
I. ATTENTION GAINING DEVICE: Did you know that among adults, orange is one of the most
unpopular colors? Did you know that orange typically becomes increasingly disliked as a person
ages?

II. RIGHT TO INFORM: I have extensively researched the color orange and it is one of my
favorite colors. Therefore the color orange is one of my areas of expertise and I can tell you
practically everything about this color.

III. MOTIVE FOR THE AUDIENCE TO LISTEN: Have you ever pondered how you see colors?
How colors make you feel? How people use orange in society? I am here to explain all of this and
more today, just for you.
