Job Title: Chief Information Officer


Job Summary: Provides the technology vision and leadership to support the
organization’s overall strategic vision, mission and culture.
Role:
1) Policy & Procedures Development and Enforcement
2) Network Management
3) Hardware Management
4) Software Management
5) Vendor Management
6) Technology Planning
7) Network User Management
8) Leadership Resource

Responsibilities:

Policy and Procedures:


1) Develops, updates and maintains IT policies and procedures
2) Enforces policy and procedures
3) Communicates IT plans, policies and technology plans throughout the organization
4) Implements and monitors security policies

Network Management:
1) With support from outside source, develops and maintains a business recovery plan
2) With support from outside source, ensures that all master files, tables and system
parameters are maintained and up to date
3) With support from outside source, perform basic network functions
4) With support from outside source, perform system maintenance tasks
5) With support from outside source, perform basic Local Area Network functions
6) With support from outside source, perform basic Server functions

Hardware Management:
1) Researches and recommends to CEO the procurement of new hardware
2) Responsible to arrange set up of new computers
3) Responsible to arrange for repair of computer equipment

Software Management:
1) Researches and recommends to CEO procurement of new software
2) Responsible to arrange installation and configuration of new software.
Vendor Management:
1) Negotiates all IT acquisition contracts with involvement of other leadership members when
appropriate
2) Reviews all hardware, software and system acquisition and maintenance contracts with
involvement of other leadership members when appropriate
3) Manages relationships with vendors for sales, service and support in regards to IT
4) Acts as the “help desk”/triage person to document system errors or defect and communicate
to vendor
5) Maintains contact with IT suppliers and maintains knowledge of current technology,
equipments, prices and terms of agreement

Technology Planning
1) Responsible for planning, development, evaluation, coordination and management of
information and technology systems for the organization
2) In conjunction with other leadership members, makes decisions about IS and technology
infrastructure within approved budgets
3) Prioritizes IT projects
4) Develops and monitors the annual technology plan

Network User Management


1) With support from outside source, assign functional grouping of privileges, setting up users
and passwords
2) In conjunction with other leadership members, coordinates user training on all applications
3) In conjunction with other leadership members, monitors changes in user behavior and
needs
4) Able to troubleshoot and solve user’s computer problems and general network problems

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

position requires hearing sufficient to use a telephone, sitting, standing, frequent bending and
stooping, occasional lifting, reaching forward and overhead, and walking. May occasionally have
to lift office equipment usually not exceeding fifty (50) pounds. Eyesight must be adequate to read
fine print.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation as established by the board of directors. A listing is maintained in a central


administrative file.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in Information Technology , computer science or related field or Associate’s


degree with combined work experience. Three to five years hands on experience dealing with
security, support and network administration issues is highly desired.
