The Mid-levels Escalator

The Mid-Levels Escalator is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world, and it is totally unique, this
is how thousands of Hongkoners commute every day to work. The escalator connects Central and Western
Districts, with the SoHo and residential districts of the Mid-levels, from Queen's Road to Conduit Road.In the
morning rush hour it runs downhill, then from 10:30 a.m. until midnight it switches direction and runs uphill. The
roughly half-mile long escalator (800 meters) is not one single escalator but a series of 20 escalators and several
moving walkways. It is covered and is a vast system that interconnects via covered footways to many areas in the
city including some of the main skyscrapers in Central.

THEAQUADOM
ELEVATOR
Where: BerlinMitte,Germany
Located at the Radisson Blu hotel in Berlin-Mitte,
Germany, the AquaDom puts a transparent elevator right
in the middle of an 82-foot-tall aquarium. The aquarium
contains more than 260,000 gallons of seawater and is
home to more than 1500 fish from 50 different species. It
takes three to four divers and almost 18 pounds of food a
day to keep the fish fed.
MAWARU GENROKU SUSHI CONVEYER BELT

Five years of both design and development has opened the first ever sushi conveyor belt restaurant, the
MawaruGenroku Sushi in Osaka, Japan in 1958. The delivery method in the restaurant allowed quicker serving
to the customers without having too many staff.
The timing for the sushi conveyor belt, however, became a challenge for Yoshiaki Shiraishi. Having the
conveyor belt too slow makes the customers complain about the waiting period for their sushi and having it too
fast doesn’t help in preventing the sushi from drying out and probably even cause some accidents.
The velocity of the sushi conveyor belt was then settled at eight centimeters per second
