SITEMANAGEMENTANDCONTROL
The Managing Director (OR the organisation) has set up a management structure and has
allocated responsibilities for environmental activities so that there is effective management of
the EMS.
The organisation’s management structure is shown in the chart detailed overleaf. The
responsibilities of individual jobs, which have an input to environmental performance, are
described in the following paragraphs.
Mana,&za Director
The Managing Director has overall responsibility for the policies and activities of the
organisation. The Managing Director in the environmental management review meetings, has
the ultimate responsibility for approving environmental objectives and targets, and authorises
the Environmental Policy (see detailed overleaf). The Managing Director also ensures that
adequate resources in terms of people, skills and equipment are available to allow the proper
exercise of these responsibilities.

The Purchasing & Logistics Manager as part of the EMS will create procedures to ensure all
purchases are reviewed for their environmental impact and that relevant purchasing contracts
place an obligation on suppliers to adhere to relevant legalisation.
The Cultural Change Co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring that personnel within Iralco are
adequately trained to carry out their job in a safe and productive manner. The Cultural
Change Co-ordinator is responsible for changing the Cultural ethos of the company to face
the new challenges required to retain a competitive edge.
The Cultural Change Co-ordinator as part of the EMS will ensure that personnel are
adequately trained with regard to their environmental responsibilities, ensure that training
records are updated and strive to achieve a Cultural Change such that Iralco emerges as a
