ELECTRIC CABLES 6310-A

1.0 SCOPE

This Specification covers the minimum requirements for Power, Control and
Instrumentation Cables.

2.0 CODES, REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS

2.1 Vendor shall meet or exceed the requirements of the latest edition of the following
codes, regulations and standards, except as superseded herein. In cases where
more than one code, regulation or standard apply to the same condition, the most
stringent shall be followed. In the event of a conflict between this specification and
other specifications or correspondence, the OWNER shall be consulted and a
ruling, in writing, shall be obtained before any work is started.

• IEC 92 Cables (construction, testing and installation)

• IEC 228 Conductors of insulated cables

• IEC 287 Calculation of the continuous current rating of cables

• IEC 331 Fire resisting characteristics of electric cables

• IEC 332 Tests on electric cables under fire conditions

• IEC 502 Extruded solid dielectric insulated power cables for rated
voltage from 1kV up to 30kV

• BS 5308 Instrumentation cables

• BS 5467 Specifications for cables with thermosetting insulation for

electricity supply for rated voltages up to and including
600/1000V and up to and including 1900/3300V

2.2 Some requirements in this specification may be modified by specific requirements

in the Purchase Specification. In case of conflict, the specific requirements
supersede this specification.

2.3 Any deviation from this specification must be approved, in writing, by OWNER.
Such written approval must be obtained prior to the commencement of any work
which would constitute such a deviation.
