attacked the male victim around 7:22 p.m. Sept. 23. Yen,
a woman who had given the cat to the victim 18 months
earlier, apparently regretted her decision and sought to
get her paws back on the feline, according to prosecutors.
The frisky cat burglars allegedly went into the victim’s
home on the 1000 block of National Avenue and tried to
put the cat in a backpack. As the victim struggled with
them, Mirza allegedly sprayed him with tear gas, accord-
ing to prosecutors.
They made an escape to San Francisco where they were
contacted by officers and Yen allegedly admitted the cat in
her possession was indeed the fought-over feline, accord-
ing to prosecutors.
Both have been charged with misdemeanor residential
trespassing, while Mirza faces additional charges for
petty theft and using tear gas, according to prosecutors.
Both have pleaded not guilty and are out of custody on
their own recognizance. A pretrial conference was contin-
ued to March 19 and a jury trial date has been set for April
16, according to prosecutors.

A San Francisco transient was arrested after a resident
recognized him from a security video stealing packages
off his porch several days prior in the area of State and
Delaware streets in San Mateo Tuesday afternoon, accord-
ing to police.
At about 2:20 p.m., the resident spotted the man and
called police, who quickly arrived and identified him as
Tommy Galia, 36. He possessed a package addressed to a
local resident and additional property that did not appear
to belong to him, according to police.
He was arrested for theft, possession of stolen property
and multiple warrants, according to police.
The alleged stolen property he possessed was posted on
