Answer: IMPORTANCE OF THE OBJECTIVES

Objectives are the statements that tells the end-points or specific outcomes of the curriculum, a
lesson plan or any learning activity etc. They describe curriculum outcome with more specific term than
goal. Objectives are helpful in following terms.

1. They communicate performance expectations to learner.

2. It helps to choose curricular content and assignment according to priority of various
components of curriculum.
3. It suggests what learning methods will be more effective.
4. It clears what evaluation methods are more appropriate.
5. It enables evaluation of learners and curriculum.

We know that objectives are based upon three domains which are cognitive, affective,
psychomotor.

A good teacher who has psychological knowledge must set the objectives of lesson plan according to
needs of the development and desired achievement. Objectives make ease to reach specific goal
and purpose of learning and development with the generalized objectives we cannot expect with
students in desired achievement and learning process. So that objectives are the back bone of any
goal and specific development.

In education our any other field outcome objectives are related to potential and hidden skills of
learners.

WAYS OF STATING OBJECTIVES:-

1. Objectives as Activities
Here all the work done is to be set by instructor. Students cannot take part in it,i.e
introduce new concepts of evolution, methods of solving problems but there are some
issues with these objectives. These statements just tells us but teachers to do. It does not
clarify the purpose of education. On the other hand, there is no way to check these
activities may be useful or not. The other demerits objectives as activities as is not providing
plan and method for curriculum.
2. OBJECTIVES AS TOPIC, CONCEPT, CONTENT OR GENERALIZATION
If objectives are only topic name, list of elements of CONTENT or based on generalisation. It
does not specify what will be the students will do with it and how they will use these
objectives practically. Or it is not helpful in development of curriculum. It is lack of
methods and strategies to lead the students to desirable path.
3. OBJECTIVES AS GENERALIZED PATTERN OF BEHAVIOURS
This type of objectives are lack of contents which explain the behavioural changes and their
uses in real life. These are not accord to the Specific changing in behaviour of the Students of
different age levels or grades. Generally these objectives are made to develop intrest, critical
thinking about matter like as “ when fire burns it produces heat and light. It is a general form. It
does not demonstrate the reality of burning.”
