Our guests from the Narcotics Control Bureau of Brunei Darussalam, DDB
officials and employees, guests, good afternoon.

We at the Dangerous Drugs Board are honored to be a part of your short visit to
our country. As the lead government agency regarding drug matters, we fully
support the advocacy against illegal drugs and illicit substances.

As you have learned in the study visit, the battle against drugs is not one-
dimensional, but rather a composition of different facets to ensure a well-balanced
approach to the problem.

Aside from drug and law enforcement, we need to make sure that there is enough
representation when it comes to alternative development, treatment and
rehabilitation, community-based treatment, and after-care services. This will
ensure that the victims of illegal drugs can be able to live a productive life in the
mainstream of society after being treated. We also need more voices on the
preventive education aspect to discourage experimentation and spread the ill
effects of drug use. With these, we can be free from the influence of drugs and all
the ills that accompany it.

Once again, thank you for making the Philippines and our agency a part of your
visit. We hope that you have been able to achieve what you originally sought out to
do, and we will be working closely with you in similar projects in the future.
