Because all of you like to read a story so today we will learn about Story or we usually call
it Narrative Text. Before we move to the material, let’s write the purpose of our study today
first. You can see in the power point.

Narrative Text
Narrative text is a kind of text which tells a story through particular event, character or
phenomenon in detail. It is the most famous type of any text. Folktale, fable, legend and short story
are belong to narrative text. Narrative text is a kind of text to retell the story that past tense. The
purpose of this text is to tell a story and entertain the readers with a true experience or an imaginary
one.
Generic structure of narrative text :
1. Orientation
 Introducing the participants and informing the time and place where happened. (It
answers the question: who, when, what, and where).
2. Complication
 Describing the rising crisis which participant faced. Tells the problems of the story
and how the main characters solve them.
3. Evaluation (Optional)
 A flash back to evaluate the serious/ difficult condition
4. Resolution
 Showing the way of participant solve the crisis, for better or worse. It is able ended
by sad or happy ending.
5. Re-orientation (Optional)
 the summary of the story.

Characteristics:
- Containing who are in the story, where and when the story happened;
- Use linking words such as when, with, who etc.
- Ending of the story conflict.
- Containing a moral value.
- Begin with certain phrase such as: once upon a time, one day, long time ago, etc

Language feature of narrative text :


1. Use specific participants
2. Use past tense
3. Use adverbial of time and place
4. Use action verb
5. Use connectors
6. Use saying verb.

3. Guru membuat kelompok dan membagi teks narrative sejumlah kelompok

Miss will divide you into 4 groups. Find your group. Finish?
4. Siswa bekerja dalam kelompok untuk membahas lembar kerja yang diberikan.

”I will give you a work sheet. Read the story and answer the question. 1 paper for each group”

5. Siswa menjawab soal-soal tentang text yang dibahas

6. Guru meminta peserta didik untuk tampil didepan kelas untuk membacakan hasil
diskusi kelompoknya
“Who wants to read out the results of the Group discussions? Anyone? Raise your hand and
Please come here. Mention your name and your group.”

7. Guru memberikan penguatan terhadap apa yang dilakukan peserta didik


“Excellent. Give applause for your friend!

2. Guru memberikan test kepada peserta didik


“Okay, close your book. Miss want to ask some question about what we have learn today.”

3. Guru memberikan tugas kepada peserta didik


“Miss has some assignment for you. Find another narrative text and identify the generic
structure of the text you choose. Collect next week.

4. Guru menyampaikan rencana pembelajaran yang akan datang


“Next week, we will learn about recount text. I hope next week all of you can be more active.”

5. Guru menutup pembelajaran dengan meminta ketua kelas memimpin doa


“Time is over. Our learning is enough for today. Please repeat and repeated again our
material when you back at home and complete you homework. We will meet next
week. Chairman please lead the pray.
