archipelago and its inhabitants, the indigenous forebears of today's Filipino people .
During the Spanish period, development was focused more on religion. The Spanish
culture was more enjoyed and welcomed by the Filipino-Spanish families and the
wealthy Filipino families. The Filipino society was divided into three classes: Principalia,
Ilustrado and the Masses. Many Filipino made big names in the fields of Music, Art,
Literature and Science. Padre Anacleto Cerra's bamboo organ in the church of Las
Piñas became popular worldwide. Women had minor roles in the society but were
respected by men. filipinos felt that they harassed by the spaniards then the birth of the
propaganda and La solidaridad then filipino fought and introduced tagalog to be the
language of revolution of the nationalist movement. there were a lot of things that are
exist today like the beliefs and culture as well. They also spread the Roman Catholic
religion as they arrive in our country before. But then they colonize us in exact 377
years, we inherit to them on how we cook some foods and also we also learned how to
speak spanish slightly. American Influences can still be seen in the country's system of
education, literature, art, architecture, science, industry, home, food, clothes, religion,
pastimes, music and dances. Filipinos took education seriously which resulted to the
high social status of some Filipinos. The Filipinos learned how to read, speak and write
English in a short matter of time. The free exchange of goods between the United
Stated and the Philippines ended when the U.S. Congress approved the Tydings-
Mcduffie Law. Through the Homestead Act, the right to own any civil land up to 24
hectares was given to any Filipino. The arrival of the Japanese caused tremendous
fear, hardships and suffering among the Filipinos. The Filipino way of life was greatly
affected during the Japanese period. The Filipinos lost their freedom of speech and
expression. The development of art was also stopped. Filipinos greatly feared the
"zoning". There were Filipinos spies hired by the Japanese to point those who were
suspected of being part of the guerilla movement. The Japanese made some changes
in the system of education. But in our generation most of the people are now reading
books doing drama others are doing spoken poetry about what they have
experienced. Some are those is battling as known as “Fliptop” Trashtalks and
exchanging offensive words.
All of them are exprienced to colonized our country but they failed to colonized
because of the bravery of the filipino. Spanish people are using knife and axe and etc.
as a weapon but american colonizer very dangerous because they are using guns knife
and others as a weapon. Japanese colonizer are more powerful than them because it
uses bomb airplanes and tanks just to destroy buildings and to kill more civilians. But
they never conquered our country and all of them are defeated. They have similar goals
like to colonize our country and to spread the culture of them. For our generation in 21st
century it is way more different from them because they have no freedom before and
they don’t feel the liberty of each person before,But now we do what we want to do. But
the similarity of now and before is we inherit the heritance of spanish and its language
also on how we spoke english as well. Though, it may have differences but its similarity
are using the language “English” because it is the only way to communicate in other
