PERAK STATE LEVEL ENGLISH DRAMA COMPETITION 2017

On the 12th of of August 2017, a group of 15 students accompanied by Puan Zeti Akhtar bt. Adnan and
Puan Eswari a/p Annamali, had travelled to Kampar, to participate in the State Level English Drama
Competition which later on joined by our Excellent Principal Mr. Gunalan a/l Tony, Mr. Kong Sin Yew
(PK Koku), Mr. Peter Khiew (GK Bahasa). Specifically, the competition was held in SMK Air Kuning,
Kampar. The competition was joined by 10 teams including us, each represented their own districts.
After more than 10 years, we’re making a come-back in the Secondary Schools English Drama
Competition. From all the team efforts of practicing and polishing in acting skills for about 4 months from
May to August, it had all finally paid off. SMK St. Michael, Ipoh English Drama Team won the first
runner-up in the Perak State English Drama Competition 2017.
The team would also like to express our highest gratitude to following :-

 Our Excellent Principal Mr. Gunalan a/l Tony for his endless support from the beginning
throughout the end.
 Also our sincere gratitude goes to our GK Bahasa Mr. Peter Khiew Wai Mun for his inspiration
and motivation.
 All the teachers that had supported the team, especially Puan Norhayati (ADAMS), Mdm. Shailaja
and Mr. Shahrol Nizam who helped with the makeups, props and preparation for the competition.
 Not to forget our beloved trainee teachers especially Ms. Anuthra and Mr. Ng Teng Wei from
Quest International University who continued to be by our sides and gave their support and helped
with our practices. Let us pray for their success in their future undertakings.

The English saying that goes “Shoot for the moon, even if you missed, you will land among the stars”
which clearly meant for us to always strive for success and always to aim high. The team gave their
dedication and hard work throughout the months preparing from District to State Level Competitions.
Although we emerged in the second place for Perak State, but it had put the name of SMK St. Michael,
Ipoh who represented Kinta Utara District this year, among the best of the best. We hope, from this
achievement, it will inspire all the other students to achieve more in whatever they are doing in life. We
humbly thank God and everyone for this life-time experience and memories.
