- Compound Sentences

Compound Sentences

A compound sentence is sentence that links to ideas together into one sentence. The two
ideas are linked with a comma and/or a conjunction word such as and, although, because,
if, but, or, or so.

For example the two separate sentences:

I hate curry. I like Thai food.

Can be combined into one Compound Sentence by including the conjunction “but”.

I hate curry, but I like Thai food.

Part I Directions: Choose the appropriate conjunction.
