Software Upgrades
43576-000001 ( U.S.)
If you have updated existing LUCAS 2 devices with this new software, it is important to discard the old operating
instructions, distribute the operating instructions (US revision F) that go with this software and inform your staff
about the software changes.
Changes included with this software release: Other noteworthy additions to the
LUCAS 2 Instructions for Use:
The LUCAS 2 is now equipped with a quick fit technology, which allows for
optimal height placement of the pressure pad prior to starting compressions. Cleaning Agent: 10% bleach has been
added to list of acceptable cleaning agents.
• If the pressure pad is pushed down too far into the sternum, the LUCAS 2 device
will adjust upwards (up to 1.2") when the PAUSE/ACTIVE button is pressed. Operating Temperature: -4°F for 1 hour
• If the pressure pad is not pushed down fully against the sternum, the LUCAS 2 device after storage in room temperature.
will adjust downwards (up to 1.2") when the PAUSE/ACTIVE button is pressed.
“Too Shallow Compression” Alert

during operation.
• ~0.1" increase in compression depth (to 2.1" ± 0.1" in nominal patient)
• 2 compression per minute increase in rate (to 102 ± 2 cpm)
• Greater patient population will now receive full compression depth (patients with
sternum height > 7.3" will receive > 2" compression while patients with sternum
height between 6.7"–7.3" will receive linearly increasing depth from 1.5" to 2.1")
Audible alert for “too small patient” presents earlier for faster recognition that
manual chest compressions are required.
• Three audible signals will alert caregivers immediately if the pressure pad / suction
cup is lowered beyond the position for the smallest treatable patient sternum height
of 6.7". Caregivers should revert to manual chest compressions.
